Put him next to Sam and you won't see those kind of numbers from the opposing front court. Suddenly opponents will be settling for outside shots.

You can't expect Dalembert to do everything. Furthermore, if we were to have a defensively challenged PF. That's all the more reason to keep Andre Iguodala. We'll need to have GOOD perimeter defense so Sammy can work on helping out Amare or said PF.

Bad Perimeter and interior D= Lottery team. And I'm tired of losing.

This has been a good month for the rose bowl. A nice little 2-10 slide puts us right back in contention.

So Tayshawn Prince hit the "dagger" shot while Iguodala was guarding him. He also scored on Iggy in the first quarter. Rodney Carney of all people blocked Prince's hook shot while he was guarding against him. I haven't seen Iguodala do anything substantial on defense pertaining to taking an opposing player out of the game since he shut Paul Pierce down a couple seasons ago.

The last person to shut down Prince was Stephen Jackson, but he's an all time great, so it is to be expected. If they only had Jackson or Martin, they'd be challenging the Celtics for the conference lead.

Speaking of Iguodala, his ball handling has looked atrocious lately. Also, whoever said that Iguodala lacks a quick first step was dead on. So many times now I just see him dribbling on the perimeter, trying to find a path to the lane. He really does lack the speed of the upper echelon SG's in this league - and sadly, I don't think that's something you can work on in practice and improve. I think you either have it or you don't.

We know Amare doesn't play D which is one of the major reasons Kerr (a guy who loves his defense) may consider moving him.

Dalembert would certainly help protect Amare on the defensive end but let's not forget that Amare plays for the Suns and not the Spurs. D'Antoni's philosphy is run and gun and not to play lockdown D. I imagine that if Amare were put not only next to Dalembert but on a team that believes defense is something you play and not something you put in your front yard... well, I think Jefferson's numbers would come down significantly against him.

Sam would probably get the toughest defensive assignment, letting Amare free for weakside shotblocking and coonserving himself for the the offensive end. plus,Either could shift to the bench if there is foul trouble.

Amare's offensive numbers could go down with less possessiona and worse floor balance/no Nash, but I have no doubt the Sam and Amare would make excellent bookends defensively. Now if only there was an actual shot at it becoming reality.

I agree if Amare was on a team that played more D, guys numbers would come down some...not going to argue that. I do still think that giving up like 33 PPG and about 16 RPG to a guy is horrible in ANY defensive system. I expect offensive numbers to be a bit inflated when you go vs. the Suns, but not like that.

Just go back and look at the numbers other opposing team C's have dropped against Amare (excluding stiffs like Kwame Brown)....there's a ton of huge games in there (especially the C's who play in the post). You can't put all the blame on the defensive system.

I agree that Amare has not performed as a top level defensive center. If we swapped Sam for Amare (I wish), we would give up something defensively in exchange for a huge upgrade on offense.

My point is Amare would be fanrtastic paired with another PF/C (in our case Sam.) This would allow him to be switched from PF to C on defense depending on the matchups. being able to run Amare at PF would turn him from a minor liability on D to a huge asset.
