It's not a bad move all the way around. Seattle gets the types of contracts they want. Chicago now would appear to be ready to go with their young big men and see what they can do with more extended minutes. It may revitalize them, or it may show them they aren't as good as they most of us thought they were. Cleveland stocks up with big men, a shooter, and a solid PG for the stretch run. Seattle's value in the deals comes in the next few off seasons as they build around Durant and Green...Cleveland's impact needs to be, and should be, immediate.
Chicago is the wild card...this is just a chemistry change for them, and we'll see how they play from here.

Agreed.
At least they're trying. I'm no A1 fan but maybe the Sixers should have done something like this to put better players around A1 when he was here.

In my mind this deal is all about Wally and Joe Smith.... 2 guys who can actually make a spot up jumper.
The "Big name" is Wallace, but he's a completely washed up bum at this point, unless he's been dogging it the last 2 years. All his key numbers have dropped each year for 6 years. There's no doubt he's a stiff.
I'm sure Lebron will get a little extra effort out of him, but I guarantee you in crunch time it will be guys like Joe and Wally that are in the game, wide open on Lebron's drives to the hole, and you can't afford to have a guy who can't hit a freethrow out there in close games either.

I won't exactly say that Cleveland is stacked.
PG: West and Snow
SG: Wally, Boobie
SF: LeBron, Pavlovic
PF: Wallace, Smith
C: Sarunas, Varejao
Solid, but not stacked. Besides adding a PG (West is more of a SG, IMO), Wally and Wallace additions pretty much is lateral to Hughes and Gooden (with Wally>Hughes and Gooden>Wallace)
Still I think the Cavs have to shake things up a bit. They are a bit better with West running the point but that's basically it.

Pretty much agree with this post .... The only other thing I would add is ...
At least they are different now (much different chemistry) and you never know what can happen. What they had was not going to get it done.

I think the problem with the Cavs is that they don't have the "sidekick" for Lebron. Last year, they were desperate enough that Daniel Gibson rose to the challenge. The Cavaliers definitely improved their team, especially talentwise. But still, I don't think that their game will improve that much. Its Lebron again with a bunch of supporting type players.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

You didn't add in Joe Smith..
Joe Smith + Wallace > Gooden
I think the problem here is that you've replaced Gooden with 2 players.
Joe Smith on offence-on defense +Wallace on defense- on offense <Gooden's overall game.
It's a problem because you can't play both Joe Smith and Wallace at the same time. There are going to be deficiencies when either of them are on the floor. That wasn't that much of a problem when Gooden was on the floor. That's why, when Sideshow Bob returns, he'll be paired with Smith to cover some of his defensive shortcomings and Ilgauskas will be paired with Wallace to cover some of his offensive shortcomings. They didn't have to pair guys up when Gooden was around.
Also, let's not underestimate Wallace's poor FT shooting. Some teams have started to play "hack a Ben" to get him to the free throw line (sim to hack a Boone and hack a Shaq) to disrupt the offensive flow of teams. So that's going to be a problem come playoff time.
So, I still think Gooden>Wallace+Smith.

Gooden is definitely being overrated here. In my opinion Joe Smith is just as serviceable as Gooden.
Joe's BB IQ alone will make up for any small discrepancies on the defensive end. I might be biased because I liked what Joe did for us last year, but the low BB IQ of Gooden has long been a bane for the Cavs fan.

Smith is better then Gooden alone. Gooden did nothing for them in the playoffs last year. This team once healthy ( Gibson, Sideshow Bob, Palovic ) wil be much better then the "TEAM" Lebron took to the finals last year.
West, Gibson and Snow is a very good PG rotation when you consider the fact that Lebron will be handling the ball like Magic did.
Then you have shooters in Wally, West, Gibson, Palovic, Smith and Big Z let alone Lebron to close the games out. They now have very good shooters at every single position. Plus I bet you Wallace will average 8-10-2 the rest of the season for the Cavs.

Andre Miller is a bad 3pt shooter.
