Gooden?

I'm not that sure how much you have to spend this offseason-but by keeping Miller I know you don't have a ton. Any interest in Drew Gooden? I know the 4 spot is a weak point. I don't want him stealing minutes from TThomas and we will draft a big.

Let's say you make the playoffs. No way you get a stud at #15 in this draft. We will give you gooden ($7 million-08-09 his last year). You would have SammyD, Gooden to start, with JSmith and REvans to back up. You want gooden or free?

We will save the $ for gordon and deng

The Sixers figure to have $10 MIL in cap space which projects to be the 2nd highest only to Memphis. Considering that Memphis is unlikely to use their space due to ownership issues, I believe the Sixers will be the top dog and look to make a big splash with that money. Obviously it isn't enough to sign a max level free agent, but as we saw with Charlotte last year... I believe we'll see the Sixers trade that cap space plus other assets to get a high caliber player.

While I like Drew Gooden a little bit... I don't think he's the player that Ed Stefanski will target.

Not target-but if you come up short? This way you don't overspend but get a one year tryout for him. He's paid fairly, is young, and expires.
I know you'd rather have brand or something like that-but with AI's extension-this is cost effective-and it's free (a second rounder would do)

He does not fit into this team. His defense is bad and so is his attitude and basketball iq. I would rather go into the season with cap space than trading for this guy.

We need building blocks for the future...

Gooden is nothing more than a stop gap on a border-line contender... I saw some value to him when we tried to win with AI, but as part of a rebuilding team I have no interest...

I love Evan's game but I could see moving Gooden for Evans. Chicago saves some money next year but adds a longer term deal in the extra two years. Reggie would give them toughness & he doesn't mind coming off the bench.

they only way the 76ers would do this is if nothing else was available. I do think people are missing the point that if all else fails; doing this for chicago would be a good deal.

now Chicago fan- your kidding yourself if you think you'd get anything from us: Phoenix traded Kurt Thomas & TWO 1sts!! to Seattle for salary reasons, so there's NO SHOT were trading you anything back.

that would give us a starting #4, whom would be traded as soon as we get near the deadline, cause of his expiring contract.

then the 76ers would have $20mill comin off the cap in 2009 (or at least the expirings)

The PF position is hella important, especially when the team doesn't really have a go-to scorer. Gooden might be a good backup, but he's not going to fill those shoes.

If Stefanski can't come up with someone better than Gooden for PF next year he should be fired, plain and simple. If he puts on the required muscle this summer I'd rather see Jason Smith play the 4 rather than a guy like Gooden. He's the Willie Green of power forwards, a true journeyman at best.

BTW, you guys from Chicago enjoy Larry hughes too, especially when he starts chucking up 15 shots a night and making 4 of them.

At the age of 26, Gooden has now played for 4 NBA franchises. Considering that he will have an expiring contract and become a UFA next summer, I'm willing to bet that Gooden will be playing for a 5th franchise in the near future.

I'm setting the over/under for franchises that Drew Gooden will suit up for at 8.... whatcha got???
