That's what some are thinking. He only played a few minutes last night and was yanked pretty quickly. When we played the Hornets earlier in February, we hit like 14 3's. Sloan was mad even though we killed them. Against the Warriors, we scored 120 or so but gave up 110 and Sloan was mad after the win. We speculate that Sloan doesn't like all the 3's going up, and as a result Korver's minutes go down. And of course Jazz fans associate that with the 3-3 stretch over the last 6 games.

Dude's shooting around 50% since he joined the team...so I don't know what's up.

Well, I think it is pretty well documented that Sloan is a big fan of defensive basketball. When you shoot 3's you will get more run-outs on the long rebounds so he may have decided that shooting 3's has reduced their effectiveness on defense. Unfortunately for Korver, he will play less as a result even though he may not be playing badly. Not to mention that Korver is not exactly a protype defender ... though he plays fairly good team defense and rebounds pretty well.

Korver's so far in the doghouse he had 17 points in 24 minutes with a +22 tonight.

I love Korver and have watched a lot of Jazz games because of him. Offensively he fits great in their system, but defensively I think Sloan misuses him quite a bit. Too many times I see him guarding other players shooting guards which makes no sense. Every other SF on that team could guard SGs much better than he could.

Apparently, like Dabods stated, after playing 24 minutes tonight, Korver isn't in the doghouse, but if he were because of defensive purposes, I could hardly blame Korver.

Everything else aside, I'm extremely happy he's playing so well in Utah.

He's a good shooter. That's it.

No chance in hell the Sixers make this run if Korver's still eating up significant minutes. They are a better team without him. Together, Iggy and Thad = tremendous length in the passing lanes. This was evident last night, as the Suns couldn't even get into their halfcourt set during the 4th quarter. Iggy + Thad were giving them fits on the perimeter, and steals were turning into easy buckets.

If KK were on the floor, the defense would be sagging back and he'd be giving up 3-point plays, etc. Love the guy, but they're better without him. No question. Addition by subtraction. Oh yea, and we got an expiring contract an a first-rounder, too. Sweet.

I think you are probably right. He is a smart player and a decent team defender but team defense with a slow defender can result in giving up the 3pt shot. This team thrives on creating turnovers and he did not contribute significantly to that effort.

I'm gald Korver is gone. Were are so much better defensivily, and more fun to watch on defense with Thad playing now instead of Korver. I'm sorry Korver's 3PT shooting was nice, but his defense would want me to break the TV. He gets blown by any player in the league, and has horrible instincts on when to steal and when not to. He fell for most pump fakes making him jump in the air and the player just dribbling past him. Honestly look how much more better as a team we are when we are creating way more turnover's since Korver left and getting way more fast break points.

I thought this post has long since gone away, but since for whatever reason it has come up again I woulld like to point out the value of a 3 pt shooter A 3pt shooter has only to make 1/3 of his shots to be equal to a 50 % 2pt shooter. (example) 3pt shooter makes 4 for 12 (1/3) shooting, Thats 12 points, a 50% 2 pt shooter has to make 6 out of 12 shots (50%) for the same 12 points. How many 50% shooters do the sixers have?

That's the reason most west coast teams have a number of 3pt shooters. At present the sixers unfortunately are lacking this.
