Technically we're only 2 games up on Atlanta but we do have 2 games in hand and 4 wins.

In order for the Hawks to pull into a tie with us they'd have to win their next 4 in a row and that isn't happening when you see that they have the Warriors at home on Tuesday Night and then travel to New Orleans for a game on Wednesday Night. It's extremely possible that we enter Friday Night's game against the Sonics with a 3 game lead over the 9th place Hawks.

GP, you dropped your Kool Aid. Here ya go.

We should be worrying about getting the 6th seed, not the 9th.

LOL Sandalf! Hey man... I'm all over that 6th seed and I'm not going to lie... I pulled out my binoculars just so that I could keep an eye on what Toronto is doing with that 5th seed. :-)

Either way, let me ask this... is anyone starting to grow some confidence in this team? By that I mean that when we play a team with a lesser record, do you look at that other team and think to yourself what a mess they are in and how we are on the right path? I realize that we are below .500 and are FAR away from being a contender but I'm now starting to believe that we have finished our tumble down the mountain (2002-2006). We hit rock bottom after the Iverson trade and hung around in the valley lingering in no man's land for just about a year (all of 2007) but we are now looking at the base of a new mountain and are headed in the right direction to rise up once again.

Seriously... I've lost it.

Yes. We have graduated from bad to mediocre. Of course, going from mediocre to great in the salary cap nba is the hardest thing to do in professional sports IMO.

think about how far we've come in 2 years. we went from an unathletic team (outside of A.I. and A.I), full of ancient vets, with horrible salary. I'm glad that BK is gone but at the end of his era he set us up w/ a good situation. Good talent , no really bad contracts, and all character guys as far as we know.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

I totally agree but at least I feel like we're now a mediocre team and not the scum of the league anymore. hopefully (fingers crossed) the combination of Stefanski making the right acquisition and our players maturing will help us make that jump.

By the way, I often overlook the fact at how young of a team we really are. A alrge majority of our players are way below their "prime" and so as time does roll on we really should see some dramatic improvements in their games. Who on this team is in their prime?

-Andre Miller is at the tail end
-Sam Dalembert might be entering his
-Reggie Evans is in his prime but not a major figure on this team
-Willie Green might be entering his
-Booth never had one

I wouldn't say that Iguodala, Thad, Lou, Jason Smith, Carney are in their primes yet and most are probably 2 years away from entering it. This team really does have a solid future ahead of it but we just need one more major cog (PF).

Since the next game isn't until Friday I guess this thread can continue as an "around the league" discussion. What do you think the Suns are going to do if they continue to struggle and either don't make the playoffs (could happen) or if they get bounced in the first round? Do you think Kerr could move Shaq? Does kerr start listening to offers for Amare again?

He did it with his jumpshot but hey, he did what I expected him to do, score in bunches.

Anyone up for sending Jason Smith down to the d-league for a couple of games to test his ankle out and get some confidence back. I think that it would be a good move now. He has not been playing much and getting in some burn before we get into the playoffs would be great. We are going to need another big man in the playoff and Smith is the only other one we have...Thoughts?

Sending him to the Dleague would only hurt his confidence in my opinion.
Andre Miller is a bad 3pt shooter.

I wonder what Jason Smith would average in the D-League. Probably 27 and 12...

Hey man... good news for the Sixers tonight since both Atlanta and Toronto lost and New Jersey is losing my double digits in the 2nd half against the Spurs. If we can make it through the rest of this month playing close to .500 ball (6-7) then I think we'll be fine for at least the 7th seed.

Also... I mentioned Toronto because someone spiked my Kool-Aid and now I take a glance at what the 5th seed is doing.
