Generally, I don't like to inject politics in areas where it is not the focus (like this forum), but a a life-long Democrat, I am scared to death of Obama being the candidate...the man has done virtually NOTHING of substance in politics, his relationship with that scumbag Rezko in Chicago is every bit as slimy as the stuff that the Clintons have been accused of, his comments about foreign policy are naive at best, and downright scary at worst (and like the guy who he has been compared to - JFK - it could lead to as disasterous a foreign policy situation as JFK's Bay of Pigs/Cuban Missle Crisis was)...
But...Obama promises "change".
Well....ummm....
OK.

not a big fan of discussing politics either in here..but nonetheless bebop your concerns are legitimate..however barack stll gets my vote if he get the nom.
Honestly with McCain sealing the deal yesterday. i am pretty happy because no matter what we will have two relatively proggrsssive candidates and lets be honest, our current administration has lowered the bar so far, we can only go up from here...just like the sixers

For a politician, Obama seems to possess a bit more human decency than usual.
But I can't understand why people think he represents real change. In general, his philosophy is similar to most others who've been running: except he's better at peppering his speeches with words like "hope" and "change".
Anyway, this isn't appropriate discussion for this board and I anticipate it being locked soon.

I'm not going to get into a political debate on a 76ers messageboard...I'm just going to urge you to read this: http://obsidianwings.blogs.com/obsidian ... ually.html
Educate yourself a bit, and move away from the perception that Obama is all rhetoric and no substance.

considering the concerns of others in this thread, I would redirect such a discussion to the current affairs forum:
