Yeah. One shouldn't mistake Carney's hot shooting streak for him suddenly becoming a decent player.

He's still a poor rebounder, ball-handler, etc.

I wish him success and hope he improves, but he's not there yet.

I'm not ready to throw a parade for him either, but I'm getting some good body language from him. I think he's someone who is starting to get what he has to do in order to stay in the league. I'm sure he "worked" on his game last summer, but I think now that he seems to have matured a bit he may make the jump and fill in some of the gaps in his game.

I think he is playing better because his game is better suited in the up tempo style we are using. He finishes pretty good in the open floor and he definitely has the speed to fill the lane on the break.

We've been playing up tempo since December. December and February he played just as much as he's averaged this month and they were subpar months, and he was saved in January by Cheeks not playing him very much.

When I stop seeing every 3rd 3 point shot being an air ball, I will start to have some faith in him as a player. There is no excuse for guys in the NBA to shoot so many airballs (especially ones who's strength was supposed to be their outside shooting).

My point has always been give the kid a chance. Every young player is not going to be a Thaddeus Young. It take some guys longer to develop than others.

While I'm not in love with Carney... I have to say that he's at least looked like and performed like an NBA player should over the past 3 weeks. Prior to that, I wasn't sure that he'd be in the league after next season (we already picked up his contract for next year).

He isn't going to make or break a deal for me this summer and I imagine Ed will look to deal either Carney or Green this summer if Thad and Iguodala shift positions to make room for a PF. I'm not sure how much value Green has but I'm sure Carney could be easily moved.

This is all I've got to say:

If only Billy King wasn't foolish enough to trade down in the '06 draft and instead picked Ronnie Brewer....

....but at least it's a bit of a relief that Carney is finally starting to contribute when it matters most. However, I'm tired of waiting on his 'potential'; I want to see more 'kinetic' from him on a consistent basis.

'Til then, Draft Day '06 will boggle my noodles....
