Derrick Rose to me is the next Andre Miller. He'll never beat you with his passing. Nor will he beat you with his speed. But he has very exceptional passing/speed abilitys. He is NOT an elite PG in the NBA.(So me and Sendem agree) He's just a good one.

NBA Comparison: Poor man's Andre Miller. Which isn't that bad.

I just want comments on the rumors

Then you're going to have to back up your rumors with a source for the rumors. "The cosmos" isn't quite good enough.

Saying "I think the Sixers should trade up in the draft and select Blake Griffin", then talking about Derrick Rose, is not going off-topic. You'll need a top 5 pick to draft Griffin when all is said and done, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that Rose drops to 5 (unlikely, but there have been more surprising things on draft day). Hence, it's on topic.

I disagree. Derrick Rose is as fast as fast gets and he WILL posterize ANYONE around the rim. Andre Miller averaged 10.5 assists one year in the NBA. Miller is an elite passer even though he doesn't have eyes in the back of his head like Magic Johnson or even Larry Bird. Players like Andre Miller and Chauncey Billups are examples of the pinnacle of maxing out your passing abilities without having eyes in the back of your head. Andre Miller assist totals are in direct relationship to his team's offense and quality of finishers/shooter. Some other great passers can just walk out on the floor and get 10 assists per night like J.Kidd and Chris Paul no matter who they are playing with or being coached by.

Now back to Rose, he doesn't have any passing ability that is worth mentioning. He is an EXCELLENT ball handler, but not in the sense that he has phenomenal break down moves like Chris Paul and TJ Ford. He's a great guard to put the ball in the hands of because he has so much foot speed and eplosiveness. I like that he uses teardrop floaters in the lane, that's a very good sign for the future. But his jumpshot is not good right now and it doesn't look like a good stroke. I doubt that he has anything even close to NBA range. Right now he plays the PG position like Speedy Claxton and Antonio Daniels with the body and athleticism of Steve Francis.

If you have a true PG you can run the offense entirely through him like Chris Paul, Magic Johnson, Zek, Kidd, Nash etc. But if you have a guy like Rose you have to run a system. Rose might be a great NBA guard like Tony Parker but he isn't worth overrating because he doesn't have the passing ability to back up his status. Without the elite passing ability what is he worth? We already know that he isn't a prime time shooter or scorer, so he is just a very good extremely athletic ball handling guard whose penetration is better than his passing ability. :noway:

If Rose were 6'6 with everything else the same, I would be on the bandwagon. But he's 6'3...

That's about the worst comparison I've ever seen. If there's one thing Rose is not, he is NOT Andre Miller. He's as athletic of a PG as we've seen in a long, long time. He's already better at getting to the hoop and shooting from distance than Miller ever has been, and he doesn't have Andre Miller's backdoor pass in his repertoire yet.
