Yeh ... that is a smart move on his part ... because that will save him the embarassment of finding out that no team will pay him those big numbers anymore.

Unless he's signing for the league minimum, Denver isn't going to have any cap space for free agents anytime soon.

I stand by my post. It seems to be (as a somewhat frequent reader of the Nuggets board) a constant thing, this AI versus 'Melo battle...and as your rightfully say, MELO4MVP and airchibundo507 lead the "get AI off the f*cking team" charge...but JRmakes_it_rain ain't too far behind tohe other two, and when you mix in posters like phil77 and KidNine (who basically wants to trade everybody but 'Melo and JR), it's not hard to sense that there is a group of posters who are not thrilled with what AI is bringing to the table.
To be fair, there are others on the Nuggets forum who support AI, as well as posters like yourself, who focus more on giving up 151 FREAKING POINTS to the Sonics ("ding, ding! We have a winner!")
Sorry if my post pizzed you off...I just found it interesting in light of the pro-and-anti AI battles that went on around here constantly.
And thanks for having my back, TGP...

I think it is pretty common for star players to get blamed when the team struggles. They get too much credit when the team wins and too much blame when the team struggles.
There were Celts fans that were killing PP. The media and fans were even starting to call out Kobe when the Lakers were struggling. They were starting to say Kobe didn't make his teammates better and all that nonsense. It wasn't Kobe's fault it was just that he was surrounded by scrubs like Smush Parker.
Same thing with Yankees fans they were killing Arod a couple of years ago even though he was putting up MVP numbers.
Any time the team isn't winning there will be mixed feelings about the star.

Also does it mean much when AI says he will take less money? He is making 22M this year. He could take just over half and still make the same as the MAx players like Dwight Howard. Older vets make too much for teams to be able to stay under the cap.

He'll opt out this summer and take less because that is what the market will pay, plus by opting out a year earlier he is likely to look for an extra year or two on the ned of the contract. Marion may take the same approach, give up some money for next year by opting out, but hooked up with a final long term contract at good overall money to close out his career.

you forgot to mention that it always seems like MELO4MVP, archibundo, JRmakesitrain are the same person because they make the same dumb posts everybody critizes on the nuggets board. not to mention that they were warned by the Mods several times!
i don't wanna blame you for putting this extremely important and incorrect "inside" info from your side on the sixers board. but you have to look at the whole story if you wanna tell others about it. check the last nights (GSW-Thread). they didn't even show up because they only show up posting this crap when a.i. has one of his bad games.
melo had several really reeeaally bad games this season and they never show up when he sucks in a game. the come out of their holes when a.i. sucks, and melo shines (which are losses in the most cases)
