Meh that means nothing. If it's a foul you call it, period. Doesn't matter what the ratio is. Pistons were shooting Js so they weren't gonna get many FT attempts anyway. I don't care if we had 50 FT attempts, if a guy drives to the hoop and is fouled you call it.
Maybe that's what they mean when they say, "Detroit Basketball". Seriously, I don't mind losing because a team out-hustled us. Which is what Detroit has done the last 6 quarters we've played. But when the refs start swallowing their whistles on a consistent basis (against one team and not the other) it really becomes aggravating. And when we're playing at home, as we were in game 4, and STILL not getting the benefit of the doubt, that is downright unacceptable.
And the officiating DOES have a huge impact on the momentum of the game. In game 4, during the end of the second half, there were a few no-calls (one on Wallace in particular, that would have given him his 3rd foul). And when a team is not shooting well from the floor, they're encouraged to take it to the basket. But if our players are taking it to the rim, getting fouled, and not getting the call, what is the point? Because that clearly has been happening quite a bit since game 4.
Again, I'm not taking away Detroit's resolve because they completely out-hustled us these last 6 quarters. But something needs to be said about the (unnecessary) advantage they've been given by the officiating.
