Meh that means nothing. If it's a foul you call it, period. Doesn't matter what the ratio is. Pistons were shooting Js so they weren't gonna get many FT attempts anyway. I don't care if we had 50 FT attempts, if a guy drives to the hoop and is fouled you call it.

Maybe that's what they mean when they say, "Detroit Basketball". Seriously, I don't mind losing because a team out-hustled us. Which is what Detroit has done the last 6 quarters we've played. But when the refs start swallowing their whistles on a consistent basis (against one team and not the other) it really becomes aggravating. And when we're playing at home, as we were in game 4, and STILL not getting the benefit of the doubt, that is downright unacceptable.

And the officiating DOES have a huge impact on the momentum of the game. In game 4, during the end of the second half, there were a few no-calls (one on Wallace in particular, that would have given him his 3rd foul). And when a team is not shooting well from the floor, they're encouraged to take it to the basket. But if our players are taking it to the rim, getting fouled, and not getting the call, what is the point? Because that clearly has been happening quite a bit since game 4.

Again, I'm not taking away Detroit's resolve because they completely out-hustled us these last 6 quarters. But something needs to be said about the (unnecessary) advantage they've been given by the officiating.

I've never heard so much whining about officiating in my life.

This isn't rocket science and it isn't some new phenomenon. The more aggressive and motivated team is ALWAYS going to receive the benefit of the doubt from the officials. This has been going on since the early 80's folks. Open your eyes and get used to it or find a more aggressive and motivated team to cheer for.

Philly was flat out going through the motions tonight. You as fans should be embarrassed for them.

Y is he opposed to playing Carney more? The games that I saw, he was playing great defense and was not chucking up bad shots...... I do not get it

I don't see what the conspiracy is. Detroit made shots and we didn't. Sheed and Billups came out smoking. Andre Miller couldn't buy a shot. Sam was nowhere.

Hopefully they'll play better next game.

You're missing the point Rip'nTheCourt. It's hard to be aggressive when you're taking it to the rim and repeatedly getting fouled and not getting calls. Kind of a momentum killer if you know what I mean. A few calls either way can change the entire pace of the game. The last two games, we've been fighting both the Pistons AND the officials, and that shouldn't happen given that you were already the favored team going into this series - nor should it happen on our OWN home floor like it did in game 4.

Lou, all those things you said are true. But again, it's hard to make shots when you're getting hacked inside. But yes, our team has lacked any energy since the midpoint of game 4. Even Cheeks looks like he's accepted that we're done.

It's classic NBA. When you're up against a proven team, with stars, and you have none, you have to be the aggressor. It's the only way to get calls.

We have to come out with energy and aggression on Thursday night. That combined with the home court should end our foul woes.

Really, do you live in a cave?

I have gotten over my initial frustration with some of the inconsistancies from the officials last game. This won't be the first or last time fans complain about refs. If you think this is the most whining about refs you have ever seen you have never been to the Raptors board...

Well.... I misssed almost all of last night's game (live, that is) due to a meeting but when I watched the replay well... I wasn't all that shocked. Iguodala has a decent game for once but the Pistons just imposed their will on us and shot the lights out.

Regardless of what happens in Game 6, the fans at the Wachovia Center should give these players a standing ovation. Damn... I think I've been possessed by dond.

So we are to presume that no no "21" was adorned? No three beers downed?

Ergo no victory...association, causation, inebriation, superstition- it all comes into play. I believe that brings you to 9 beers for next game- and that's just not healthy.

Sorry for the free association rant- but clearly TGP is at least as much to blame as AIG or the officiating.

Oh, and while I am at it- where's the heck is our Knux Recap?
