I almost puked when I saw the thread title....but after reading THFM's post, I'm pretty certain that Simmons' prediction is gonna be way off, especially considering that Iggy didn't perform very well in the playoffs.

Expect Eddie to sign a 6 yr/$60 million contract for Iggy at the most....otherwise, we're overpaying.

Simmons doesn't know what he's talking about.

Iguodala has been horrible in this series after showing signs of developing into a second echelon star during the regular season. He certainly can't be the man in the playoffs- at least age this point and against a team like the Pistons.

I say 5yr 60 mil is fair and would not cripple the team (it would start at about 9.5 mil next year.)

That type of salary would make him the 3rd highest paid player on most playoff teams.

I think that's a fair deal, but Iggy's ego is going to get a hold of him. I just don't see anyway he accepts less money than he we offered last year, and if that's the case, S&T would be the best option for this team.

Iggy goes to get and accept something between 6 years and 60-70 million.

6 years and 70 million is the exact same rate he got last year, basically just adding another year to his contract, it ends up being 11.6 year a year.

6 years and 70 million, plus or minus 3 million.

And it's basically what Richard Jefferson got, and Richard Jefferson falls into that catergory of a solid 2 maybe 3 guy on a championship team.

Well, as I have said earlier ... I do not believe he is a big enough impact player to fuss with him at all. If he is the least bit unhappy with his contract ... let him go. If you can trade him ... fine. If not, just let him go. I have confidence in the front office to find a replacement for him.

I think so. Say we resign Iguodala for $70 mil.

We trade him to NY for their First rounder, Q-Rich and Jerome James. I think that's close to 70 mil?

They have two years left on their contracts, and we get a top 5 pick.

I don't see why either team doesn't do this trade?

NY gets a proven young player.
We get a top 5 pick.

No way in hell would I trade Iguodala for a future #1 and 2 overpaid stiffs with 2 years left on their deals. That's critical cap space you would be tying up for years with those 2 scrubs. We would be much better off just letting him walk for nothing and using the cap space to sign another FA who would actually be a piece to the immediate future of this team. There's no guarantee how high a pick would be and they are crap shoots anyhow (also, I don't even think NY has a pick in '09). Worst case, let Andre walk and then we have enough cap space to sign ANYONE who is/can be a FA this year. Or wait until next year when some even bigger names are FA's and use it then. You can't waste 2+ more years waiting for stiffs to clear off the cap.

I think he's going to demand more than the 57 million he would have gotten last year in order to save face, but I'd target 60 million over 5 years as the area both sides could probably compromise at.

If he's unhappy with that, I don't believe any teams can offer more than that and wouldn't mind if Ed plays a bit of hardball.

If you look at a bigger picture, you can get a player like AIG EVERY YEAR.

You can get a SG who can average 20 ppg fairly easily, but it's difficult to find one who can also rebound, won't be a liability on defense, pass and play within the team, etc.

And yeah, he played like crap in the playoffs, but that's more a matchup issue than anything else. He's a 6-6 SG that shouldn't be repeatedly matched up against an athletic 6-9 SF when it's clear that the matchup isn't working.

Maybe not working for Iguodala, but working great for Stefanski.

Wallace and Atkins were both FA's that agreed to come to Detroit.

Detroit was going to sign them without doing a S&T, but Hill wanted more money so the S&T was done and the Magic gave the Pistons a pick.

It was a S&T, so Orlando could pay him more money.

On August 3, 2000, Hill forced the Pistons to send him to the Orlando Magic, in what appeared to be a one-sided sign-and-trade deal in favor of Orlando for Chucky Atkins and Ben Wallace.

I'm NOT on poster's " Send em "s "
rant that Iggy sucks. Or is a 4th best player on a good team. That's just stupid talk. However I see Iggy NOT getting more than the 5 Yr-57 million offer that was written about. This offer was NEVER confirmed, only speculated. The Sixers never release contract information. People like Simmons, or SAS know absolutely nothing more than any of us do. The only thing I can see Philly giving Iggy now that maybe they didn't last off-season is the right for Iggy to cancel the deal after the 3rd season, and opt-out, or have a performance clause that says that IF Iggy makes certain strides. Or if the Sixers perform at a certain level, then Philly will tear up that deal after year 3, and give him a higher one. But other than that, I can't see why Philly would ever go higher than 10 million on the first year of the deal. It's not like Iggy can get remotely that in Free agency for the next 3 years. Cause no teams will have that type of money. Not including Memphis. But they have already stated that they wouldn't offer anything to Iggy this off-season.

So Iggy doesn't have any choice. Or is he in a position of power.

bernal:

Iggy has power. He can choose to sign the qualifying offer and then become a UFA next summer...and if the offer is too low, he might just do that.
