JR Smith has huge potential, but he's far too unreliable for me to trade Miller for him. I think we can definitely get more out of Miller than that, especially considering he's expiring.

we might be able to get JR for nothing. Who says they will keep him if karl stays around. If he coems cheap, ya, im sure he will stick around, but do you really think they are gonna pony up big bucks for a guy who doesnt get along with the coach. Not too mention, denvers financial situation isnt exactly good right now.

Say he wants to be "the guy", he knows thatll never happen behind A.I and Melo, so maybe he takes a chance on us, who he sees doesnt have a #1 guy. He fits into our fast break style and he helps spread the floor.

Then we use the rest of our cash on a non all star PF, like Biedrins.

Andre Miller / Louis Williams
JR Smith / Willie Green
Andre Igoudala / Thaddeous Young
Andres Biedrins / Reggie Evans
Samuel Dalembert / Jason Smith

What a HUGE Improvement

Unless you are prepared to play Thad at PF (which I am not necessarily against), Iggy's future on this team is at SG...and last I looked, he wasn't played there...and I'm not sure if he CAN play there.

And the problem is, if Iguodala is going to be a SF - either here or someplace else - this playoff series isn't going to look very good on the resume (although, to be fair, had we had a real STUD at SG, it might have created more space on the floor for Iggy...the Pistons were totally committed to helping on Iguodala, believing that there was nobody on the perimeter who could hurt them if they focused on Iggy).

This is a real dilemma for Stefanski. While the roster certainly seems to fit better now than when Iverson was here, he still has a big problem with Iggy and Thad. If Iguodala could be our SG of the future, then it is solved - sign the guy, and we move forward with the difficult task of finding a PF. The problem is, if we can't get a PF who can BOTH rebound the basketball and score the ball (i.e. if we simply get a "better" Reggie Evans...somebody in the Turiaf/Maxiell/Millsap mode), then we really need Iggy to SCORE THE BALL. Perhaps he will stand a better chance of that at SG, but I don't know that I am "5 years/$60 mil" sure that he can be our Roy/Ellis/Redd/Martin type of guy.

I have supported in the past getting a traditional score-the-ball SG with our cap room, with Iguodala playing the SF and Thad playing the PF, in the event that we cannot get Brand or somebody of that ilk. Had we had somebody like Brandon Roy or Monta Ellis at the 2, it would have been a lot harder for Detroit to play the defense that they did...and Iggy's "stat-stuffer" game would not have suffered as much as it did for large chunks of the series.

Ow.

My puzzler is sore.

Good, fair analysis of why its good our GM had the largest noggin in the business. Hopefully that translates into being a good GM...

The biggest need is help inside...PF and C should be the FA/draft targets. Get a big man with ball skills and footwork, and that will help tremendously as well. They are in a position to add quality big men, that is what they need to do.

Again, a post requesting Josh Howard...he may be available, but what void does he fill?

Someone mentioned Calderon...nice PG replacement for Miller, but I don't know how they get him??

Sixersftw:

I was referring to this current lineup both in the playoffs and throughout much of the season...and remember that when he played SG early in his career that the PG was the "other" AI - who brought a different dimension to floor spacing when he was here (as well as being "the man" to take the big shot...frequntly, when Iggy played SG next to AI, he would have only 5-8 shots a game...

He has not played a ton of SG on THIS team - and it is that fact that Stefanski has to put in the mix when he thinks about how to put this team together for the future.

fair enough but i think offensively playing sg would be the best thing that could happen to him. he generally wouldn't have to deal with the size/length disadvantages that give him nightmares. also, I still believe will improve his outside shooting b/c i'm giving him the" kyle korver benefit of the doubt". like kk (until he didn't...or mo didn't), iguodala has consistently improved every year so theres no point in me doubting he will improve that flaw now.
