I still feel we are on even ground with them and anyone can win this series. If they weren't "The Detroit Pistons", I wouldn't feel nervous about this at all. They haven't shown that they can be consistently better than us, and we haven't played a great game 1-12 yet. Let me see them beat us when we play our best and I'll get scared
The problem is, you guys' really haven't seen the Pistons' best.
The Pistons are an old team now, but 4 years ago, they played just like your team. Scrappy, athletic, and with heart. Fighting for every loose ball, putting their bodies in danger, etc. That was 'Detroooiiiit Basketball.'
Now they only bother doing that when they play a team they think are as good as them, and even then, only for spurts. It's a double edged sword; the Pistons at their scrappy best ARE a better team that Philly has no chance against, but because of their fat cat mentality, they probably wouldn't BE at their best for Philly, evening them out.
I like your team quite a bit, they are like the Pistons of old, and you have every chance to win this series, as it's not sure that we can get two hold games of the 'peak Pistons' in this series. But you have to understand what writers are talking about - they're talking about the Finals level Pistons - who only show up like twice in the second nad third rounds and never in the first now.
I'd agree you have every chance to beat us if you catch us off guard.

Excuses, excuses. I'm not buying it. You guys are not the same team that went to the Finals back in 2004 and in 2005. It is your reputation that makes it seem like you're a good team. 5 straight appearances in the ECF and only one actual championship win in 2004. You were pushed to 7 games by a 2 man team in the Miami Heat in 2005 and beaten by that same Miami team in 6 games 2006. Lebron beat you guys by himself last year. You guys as a team haven't intimidated anybody since Larry Brown and Big Ben left. Ben provided the interior defense that you guys lack now and Larry is a great and consistent playoff coach unlike Flip. It's stupid how you guys dominated us in game 2 and everyone said the Pistons are superior to the Sixers. We dominate you guys in game 3 and it's all about how the Pistons are "beating themsleves". If we had any kind of half court offense we would have swept you guys. But we rely on run n gun too much to succeed in the playoffs right now. Once we acquire a real PF and some reliable shooters, we'll be a top team in the east.

Obviously you didn't read your post since your response does not counter a single thing I said.
I said "they haven't played with Philadelphia's energy consistently since 2004, but can show it spottily when they feel they're playing someone worthwhile," you respond with "they haven't won a championship since 2004!" Are you kidding me...uh, thanks for agreeing with my point, I guess.
As an aside, NOBODY was beating the Heat in 2006; Detroit and Dallas couldn't breathe on Wade without a whistle blowing; it was pitiful.
Read what people write before responding and immediately jumping into defense mode. Seriously.

I would definitely agree with the gist of your thread...that '04 team was a good one...with LB on the bench, Big Ben doing the dirty work, and 'Sheed as the final piece. I enjoyed that team.
And while I appreciate the sentiment that you pose - that the current Sixers team has the scrappy resolve of that Pistons team of the past -the difference is that this team does not fit together as well...and it will take some savvy moves by Stefanski to move the pieces around and create a team that really fits together well. Some of it will be the natural maturation process of our young guys...but we still have two or three major moves to make yet...and hopefully Eddie will get them right.
Detriot took a pretty big chance when the brought 'Sheed in...and it paid off. It will take a similar chance or two by Eddie and the SIxers to get this team to "fit together" well...

Now that we've seen the Piston's click, I still feel we could beat them. They don't seem like the squad they were. Sheed makes them formibable, but he's one man.
I doubt we will win the series at this point, but Detroit is going to be in rough shape against anyone much better than us.

Hey guys
Great series. Ill admit that myself and no one on the Pistons board even gave you guys a punchers chance, but you most certainly proved yourselves. I really like your young pieces (especially Thad Young, tho im not sure why he didnt play more). Grab another PF and a straight shooter and you will have a formidable team next year.
And thank you to the posters who came over and were classy. I know we were all overly cocky on the board, but those that came to talk basketball without taunts were much appreciated.
Again, great series, your guys really impressed me
Ill hopefully see you cats next year

Had you told me we would have won 2 games before the series started, I would have been happy. Sadly, I'm incredibly disappointed. The last 10 quarters of basketball weren't even remotely competitive. Iggy was outclassed all series. Outside of a great game 3, Dalembert was bad. Miller got abused the last 3 games. Willie had a good game one, then got destroyed defensively. reggie evans committed dumb foul after dumb foul. The only one I'm even remotely OK with is thad.

Couldn't have said it better.
I was also fine with how Evans played- he at least stepped up and didn't seem to have his will broken.
Lou and Thad showed they at least have the potential to step up on the bigger stage. Can't say the same for AIG. I'll be waiting for their next playoff series to see if he can bounce back- but it will be a long wait.

I mostly agree with you. I love Philly's scrappy resolve, and they do need something...else. Hopefully you'll be another Orlando as opposed to another Bucks. We saw promise in the Bucks when we beat them in the first round and they fell off - and we saw promise in Orlando and they actually built on it this year. Good luck with offseason moves.

Been away the last few games cause I went out of town. And then I celebrated my B-Day yesterday
I just wanted to say, Thannk you to my 76er team. No I wasn't happy with losing the last 3 straight. And losing them all very badly. However I still say then, and now that any sort of playoff experience is a good thing for guys like Lou Williams, and Iggy, and Thad Young.
Maybe not so much for Miller and Evans cause they've seen it before. Plus, neither has any sort of future here in Philly very long.
But even with 3 straight losses. I still am happy we were there.
Now comes the off-season.
