Lou Williams
Just reading some of the comments around here I take it that you guys aren't all that high on Lou? Meaning you dont believe he is starting caliber?
Why is that?
Albeit I dont watch the sixers as much as you guys do but watching Williams I see an individual who can get to the rim anytime he wants, a player who can score in various ways. An Iverson type (not seeing he will be even half the player AI was).
His bball IQ isn't all that high, but he's still only 21. This year he was finally a rotational player, a sixth man on a playoff team. Aside from his low bball IQ the other issue is his passing ability which is below average at the PG position. The way I see it though, he would compliment AI2 very well, seeing as how he's an explosive scorer, while Iguodala is more of a playmaking do it all type of player. So beside AI2, all Williams would be asked to do is score, the type of player Blazer fans want next to BRoy.
For example I dont see Bayless being a better prospect then Lou Williams. Both are combo guards who are refining their PG skills, Williams is more athletic though ( I believe he's bigger too, I may be wrong). Williams was also the HS player of the year, so if he did go to college who knows how much his value would of increased.
I really like Lou Williams, he has star potential imo...I believe he can be a 20ppg type of guy

I think we're still high on him and he's shown a very nice progression through the three years he's been here. This is somewhat of an important year. We're all content, for lack of a better word, with him doing what he did this year as a scoring, energy guy off the bench a la Barbosa. But I think we all want to see him make more improvements to his game (strength, defense) and show he could be a starting PG in the league.

I think that's a very interesting point to discuss further.

He's already become a better player than expected, considering where he was drafted. He can still improve as well, he's still very young. I still believe that he can eventually become a PG in this league. He has shown great ability to penetrate into the lane. If he can use that to improve on his passing and playmaking, he will be a very good player.

You are absolutely right on this. He's also close to Bayless in height & I think Bayless will end up having a similar game. Williams needs to improve his shot & defense but he keeps getting better. t looks like Philly has him slotted in as a combo guard for the future.

Exactly, look at Boston with Rajon Rondo, if 76ers land a power forward, then they will probaly have to use Andre Miller and if it means we can make a play for player who score, defend like Boston did when they got KG,Miller is expendable and Louis Williams is better then Rondo clearly.
If we got Elton Brand, I wouldn't mind sending Miller, pick,Reggie Evans for Brand?? Lou Williams would do this and be good enough to help us compete in the east, if the 76ers make the right moves we sky past the mediocore east and join the top 3 of east with Boston still on top,Orlando next season, Detroit doesn't look good unless they can pull something off with suprisingly Billups/Sheed are on the block and most likely to get dealt.
I don't think I Trust The Process anymore!
We are the originals! We are the Philadelphia 76ers!

I completely disagree with you. I would take Rondo any day of the week as my starting PG over Lou. It isn't even close in my mind. Sure Lou is the better scorer, but Rondo has shown the ability to penetrate and finish with a nice little floater. In time, his offense will be adequate. His passing ability and defense are FAR superior to Lou's.

I wouldn't trade LW for Rondo. They're too similar in my opinion. Lou scores more points in 7 less minutes than Rondo and registers 2 less assists per game (but Lou often shares guard duties with Miller on the court and that has to be taken into consideration). Lou also shoots a better percentage from beyond the arc and the FT line. Their FG% is pretty close with Rondo having the slight edge.
I honestly see no reason why Lou couldn't be just as good as Rondo if he were to dedicate his game at the point rather than the 2 guard. You also have to factor in that Rondo just happens to play alongside 3 Allstars. How would Lou fare if he were inserted next to Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett instead of Iguodala, Reggie Evans, and Dalembert? Rondo's guys can finish. I'm not so sure you can say that about Evans or Dalembert - or even Iguodala for that matter. Your assists are destined to be higher playing alongside Rondo's supporting cast.
I like Rondo but in no way would I say he's significantly better than Williams, nor would I say he's got a higher upside than our guy.
