Sammy, like Ratliff, is generally an of the ball shot blocker who comes from the weak side. If you have two of those, who's providing the on the ball defense?
I don't think Jason Smith has the bang in his game, or the strength to be that guy. He's not that kind of player. A shot-blocker like Mutombo can take the impact of the post player, body him up and go straight up for the block. If we really want a second shot blocking presence that's what is needed. Two athletes flying around doesn't result in lots of blocks, it results in baseline cuts and layups/dunks....Princeton style baby.
Let's get a bruiser to do the things Sammy can't.....which gives us plenty to choose from. Hahaha
How important are blocked shots in a PF?

The Princeton style is my favorite philosophy. And it's a philosophy I think our young guys are ready for. Iguodala and Thaddeus Young could thrive in such a system. Iggy with his jumper and Thad with his ability to play without the ball. Carney's a guy I think can develop into a stud off the ball handler. I think we have the potential makeup of a Sacramento Kings team from 2000-04. Granted, we don't have the front-court. But I think that changes if we get a good back to the basket forward.
I think it's something we can do.
