I'm all for picking up Speights as well - even if we get Brand. At 6'10, Speights could be used at both the 4 to back up Brand, and the 5 to back up Sam. Both Speights and Brand are solid bodied bigmen that would really do wonders when it comes to blocking out and giving us post options. I'm all for Brand but I'd really love to get Speights as well.

I'm confused by what you're saying here because that's exactly what the Sixers need. Not being able to score in the half-court is what doomed the team against Detroit.
As a dominant rebounder and defender, he actually helps the running game as well because you need to get the ball before you can run.
Any chance they would be interested in a S&T for AI and maybe Jason Smith.
Assuming Brand agrees to sign an extension and the Sixers have enough cap room left over to sign either Monta or Childress, something along these lines is a pretty clever way of improving the roster.

Am I the only one who listened to that interview and heard nothing so positive? He was joking around with the guys but I didn't hear him say anything that gave me more hope that he'd opt out to come to philly. Did I miss something?
It's still intriguing, I agree, that he went on the show in the first place.

We should also try to rework the deal with the Knicks and see if we can get some younger players. If that doesn't work, we then go all out and throw everything we've got at Brand.
Yes, it good news. Although what deal would we make with knicks say we sign Elton Brand he should sign here bring a title to philly with our good core just getting better with Iggy as the 2nd option,Dalembert the shot blocking, rebounder center better then Perkins. Andre Miller/Lou Williams is one of the post point guard duo's in the league. Thadeus Young looked very impressive during his rookie season, hopefully he continues to improve his game this season.
Seriously though if get Brand just use the MLE, or even the draft pick for some shooters which knicks don't got and the only player I would even consider for philly is David Lee.
If we did that we could be a championship contender if Brand signs here..wouldn't it be awesome to start the old 76ers-Celtics rivalary that has not been relevant for awhile now, except 1 1st round lost after the 01 finals appearance. Imagine in the Eastern Conference Finals Brand vs. KG as 76ers fan watching the finals of boston/L.A makes me want to see reborn hatred of Boston in Philly..we used to be up there with L.A/Boston. If Ed can make the right decisions, we can compete for a title and be really good team to watch.
Brand **** the Clippers they should move back to Buffalo/ or Kansas City/Tampa Bay/Las Vegas..L.A is a lakers town..your an outcast as Clipper in L.A. In Philly your the only pro basketball team 76ers would be back on top on the side with fans again. just imagine if we still had the Warriors in town still that would be weird never understood two teams in one town and especially one stadium like clippers/lakers.
I don't think I Trust The Process anymore!
We are the originals! We are the Philadelphia 76ers!

Just thinking about it, if Brand said he'd come, you think we'd hav ea chance for a B Davis (w/o a trade) or Kirloinko (w/trade)?
Just something that popped into mind; but Brand seems the kind of sign that would enable the Sixers to be more attractive to FAs and possibly in a more cost efficient manner (Spurs-like if you will).

At the end of the interview, he mentioned to the host to have the producer call David FauK. I love it. He talks abot being from Peekskill, NY and his doctor lives in Deleware. He talked aout the 76ers wanting to get back to the rivalry with Boston.
I liked the part where the host asks him, why would you want to play in the West and bang with all the big guys when you can play in the east?
Brand does mention that he does like the type of physical play in the east.

Depending on price, Billups would be somebody I'd be interested in.
Me though, I'd be more inclined to try and trade some combination of non-essentials to get Mike Miller or somebody like him.
Andre Miller might not be a perfect fit, but he's always a productive player.
Green and Carney are huge negatives on the court and replacing their below-average 30 mpg with Miller's above-average 30 mpg would be a huge improvement for the team.

it really depends on the length of the next contract. If he opts out of $17 million but signs a longer term deal starting at 10 mil and then going up from there it could be comparable to a deal he could get as a year older player. A six year deal now is doable as a 28 year old. Does a 29-30 year old get a 6 year deal?

Hey guys. I'm not trying to pester you guys but someone posted come Chad Ford chat Rap on the Raptors board. It mentions that you cats might make a push for Jose Calderon.
Now, you are the experts on your team but for me, you guys can't shoot. Love your defence, but shooting is an issue.
What happens if Brand opts out.
Could you possibly do a S&T for Brand with Miller going to LAC and then throw big cash at Calderon?
I think Jose would look great on your team. Safe, steady PG who can shoot the lights out but his defence is lacking. He tries, but he is somewhat limited. Also our coach loves to have him completely overplay guys, so it's even easier for him to be beaten off the dribble.
Him and Brand would be deadly in the P'n'R, just like him and Bosh. Your Sixers also have the wings that can actually do something with ball, which my beloved Raptors don't. Now with your defence, you could mask him and he would help your offence a lot. And I like Miller, he's a solid professional PG, but he can't shoot.
I think a lineup of
Jose
AI
Young
Brand
Daly
would look beautiful. Now I don't want you guys to get any better, us being in the same division and all, but respectfully, I think that's a pretty nice, balanced lineup.

Sounds great if the Sixers could make it happen- but I doubt it will.
Its sounds like the Sixers will moiss out on both Brand and Calderon, so its hard to imagine they will get both.
To go after Brand they will have to do a S&T with the Clippers that includes their pick and cap space. If they get Brand they likely would try to keep Miller so they can make a playoff run.
If the Sixers go after Calderon, they probably would move Miller in the hopes of getting a good younger PF (maybe Wilcox at the trade deadline for Miller's 10M expiring) and build toward contention in 2-3 years. I doubt Calderon would be part of a short term plan (which Brand would be at age 29.)
