Koufos. Don't want any part of another Jason Smith clone. I'm on the Speights bandwagon from here on out - even if that means moving up to solidify our chances.

I'm continued to be amazed by the expectations of posters when it comes to the draft. Year after year it's the same story. It's amazing and naive to think the draft will bring in anyone to this team with impact.

Bet the house that whoever it is will be riding the bench (as Thad did). Maybe, just maybe Cheeks will play the kid once in a while. And unless he show's Thad's level of upside his minutes will continue to be few and far between. I just can't get excited about that.

The noise starts well before the season even ends. We should get this guy or that guy from college as if anyone will be a franchise player who has never even dribbled a ball in an NBA game. Even the "sure thing" guys like Kobe, Lebron, et al need time at the pro level to develop and that means waiting for the impact to take positive effect. Though I agree drafting young talent "primes the pump" for the future I don't understand the infatuation with young unproven talent all the time on this board. I frankly don't want it explained to me either because it won't change my mind. I'm too old a dog, seen too many players over too many years to get excited over virtually nothing.

Sorry to disappoint but tonight will simply be a ho hum draft night for us. Pick at 16 and then change the channel. If you're expecting more you're wrong.

Like it or not this is a fact. Come playoff time veteran teams contend for championships, young teams watch those veteran teams on TV with the rest of us. Luckily for this team none of us are the "Real GM" of the Sixers. That guy (Stefanski) is thinking about July 1st and beyong because THAT'S where we'll take this team to the next level.

With this draft I would be looking at players for two reasons. One, I intend to keep the kid and develop him over time or two, I'm drafting a kid that the Clips want for Brand as part of a S&T. Either way my expectations of my draft pick are low and reasonable.

I'm sure my post will not be popular with some but let's just see how right or wrong I am starting tonight and especially into July. For the team's sake (and that's where loyalties should lie).

Jason Thompson.

I watched him get abused (live) by a one legged sophomore power forward in the CBI game this year. Also watched him get abused by Drexel's Frank Elegar.

Two midmajor power forwards, one has a borderline chance of getting drafted, one who obviously not be playing in the pros, both of them crushed Thompson. How is he going to go up against any NBA caliber power forward?

Granted, those are the only games I watched him play in, so maybe they were both just really bad games, but I don't like him.

This year, I want another Thad. Not skill wise, I liked Thad because he was a quality kid, super smart. I'd much rather get a smart, hardworking kid than what i've read about the work ethic of some of these more talented power forwards.

I'm with you. I'm pretty confident in DiLeo.

Jordan or Greene. But even with them my upset will be tempered by low expectations at the 16th pick

In his 5 games(small sample size) against top 100 teams(KP100) he actually posted marginally better statistics than in his other games on average. So, I think that your point isn't backed up by the numbers.

I wouldn't care if they drafted him. Much like Jason Smith last year, I have never seen this guy play.

Players I don't want...

Randolph, McGee, Ajinca, Greene and to a lesser extent Jordan.

Maybe he just plays down to his competition?

I'm not sure what to think of how he would do in the pro's or what type of game he'd play. He got crushed when he played us, 4 points in the first 30 minutes. That was against a euro power forward, I really believe against a bruiser his skinny frame would get knocked around. This was also in a worthless CBI game, so he may have been just coasting in order not to risk injury.

I'm leaning more towards someone who could score down on the blocks, and to me, Thompson isn't that player. I think if our center was Bogut, I'd like Thompson to spread the floor and move on the fast break. I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world if we drafted him, I just think we could do much better at that spot.

He did play fairly well against Beasley and Hickson. In fact, he played exceptional defense on Beasley.

I do agree I don't want him at 16. In the 20's he's an interesting prospect.

Exactly. I liked him for the Cavs. If we could trade down, get an extra pick plus him I'd be stoked. Just not at 16.

Jordan is going to be the big bust of this draft.

For me it'd be Robin Lopez...although I'll probably end up jinxing him and he'll be a superstar. There are a lot of players i like in the mid-first round. Picking up Speights would be the logical thing to do, but if all of the forwards are gone, I'd be *okay* going with a rotational player with potential like Greene. Either way, it still sucks in my mind. This could have been all said and done with if we'd rebuilt and grabbed Rose/Beasley or whatnot. Then we'd only have one position to worry about versus two.
