Re: Official 2008 Draft Thread
anybody know how much cap Memphis has left after this trade, JW. And if im not mistaken Juan Carlos Navarro is going back overseas no?
that leaves memphis with Conley, Critt, Lowry, Jaric(i am not counting Mayo as a 1 because it looks like he will be playing the 2 for all of his minutes.

Not really. They aren't going to use that cap space since they are still looking to sell the team and I believe they just took on another 2 MIL in salary from this deal which will hurt their space. Josh Smith would be a good fit there though.

Re: Official 2008 Draft Thread
Well, that trims one less PG off of the list. Either way, Jaric isn't getting moved again and so that leaves them with 4 PGs.
If I were them, I'd put out feelers for what I can get for Conley. Either way, the PG market is flooded right now.
Hinrich
Felton
Memphis' PGs
Baron Davis
Marcus Williams
Given Miller's status, I wouldn't hesitate to grab one of these guys (probably not B-Diddy) if the price is right.

Re: Official 2008 Draft Thread
Jaric is getting married to Adriana Lima. Maybe they just acquired him in hopes that she goes to the games and it helps attendance.

Agreed, right now I probably stay away from Hinrich too. He would most likely cost us our cap space.

Re: Official 2008 Draft Thread
If we could get a PF in a deal for Andre Miller.... I would then use the space on Hinrich. Other than that, I would pass on him as well.

Re: Official 2008 Draft Thread
Did you guys see where Portland traded pick #36 (Omer Asik) to Chicago for THREE future 2nd rounders??? I have a feeling that we'll see Portland active on draft night for quite a number of years now.

Unfortunately it looks like portland will be controlling the draft for years to come. It's like they are an atm for draft choice trades.

Re: Official 2008 Draft Thread
Is it too early to start talking 2009 draft??? Apparently Brandon Jennings is having trouble academically which could lead to him NOT playing for Arizona this year and instead going to Europe or the D-League. Chad Ford is the one reporting this and since Jennings is currently projected to be a Top 10 pick, this could bounce him out of the lottery which would be awesome for us. I do believe I've found my target for '09!!!

Re: Official 2008 Draft Thread
TGP - why do you think those other options would hurt his draft spot? I would actually think it could help. The level of competition in Europe or the D League is probably better than college ball. At least in the D League this are basically the best of the non-NBA level players. In college you have a ton of guys who don't have NBA or D-League talent.

Chad Ford is the one who wrote that this could hurt his draft stock. As for why, well... I would say that the level of competition Arizona plays is better than that of the D-League. In the D-League, he won't be matched up against as good of PGs are he will in the PAC-10 and in the tournament in March.
