* Teams have won titles with everything from Will Purdue to Wilt Chamberlain at center. You can win with any reasonable nba player at center so long as they're not consuming an inordinate amount of resources and you have enough resources left over to acquire other good players to make up for whatever flaws somebody might have.
* Right now I think Sam has improved to the point where he's a positive asset instead of a negative one. He more than earns his money going forward unless he regresses.
* With FA here, I've been really focused on this notion of player efficiency and over/underpaying players right now. This is why I'm so hyped up on Childress and down on getting Smith. Given Childress's high FG%, defense, rebounds, etc, I think he actually produces say 9 million worth of production on the court. But you can probably acquire him at 6 million. This is the perfect type of player to acquire to maximize our resources. Even if he's not a perfect fit, he still remains a positive trade asset down the road. But Josh Smith, lets say he produces 10 million worth of value but is paid 14 million per year. Even if he is somehow currently judged a slightly better player than Childress, he's a negative on the team in the long run unless he improves to the point where he earns his money. (and given his limitations and style, I think its unlikely with Smith, just a personal opinion.)

Re: Samuel Dalembert: Championship Center?
I have always been a fan of Sammy D since he started playing for the Sixers. Although, watching him play is somethings heart breaking because he often looks confused/lost on the defensive end. But we must admit that the potential is THERE. And his great moments are quite a rare feat. (such as this one http://youtube.com/watch?v=i639wJl91Wc) And at the end of the day, with the right motivation, I do believe that might prove his critics wrong and be a championship center for the Sixers.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Dalembert is a talented man, BUT... How many games off season do he play on level off his talent? +inconceivable attemps become primary scoring options last season, it was terrible =( I'm sad to say it, but, imho, he is a problem and overpaid player at present.....
