I was upset when I first heard about that trade, because it sounds incredibly stupid to trade away a future first just to get rid of Carney and Booth. Carney is a talented young player, we should not have to give up more just to lose him. But after I hear that now that Brand is leaning toward signing with us, that makes me very excited. It would be amazing if we can sign him, hopefully the rumor is true. If not him, then Josh Smith at least. But one of the two, definitely. Come on, let's get it done...

Thanks Sixerscan,

At this moment, I'd like to acknowledge sixersftw and tension as worthy competitors for this realgm dollar.

I'm rich *****!!!!

BTW With Carney on the way out, does anyone see L. Williams spending more time at the 2 guard?

with the dwindling value of the realgm dollar and the surging value of the realgm pound, I am the one who is victorious. I wonder if i could add this pound to help w/ the "Elton Brand moving fund".

Definately, Louis Williams is one of those players that can shoot and score the ball. You rolled the dice with Rodney Carney, moreso than with Willie Green. Willie, for all of his inconsistencies is a decent player off the bench. You didn't know if you'd get ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING from Carney.

Now Josh Smith, is the guy I want. He plays the passing lanes extraordinarily well.(1.5 SPG) and averaging nearly 3 BPG. Our defense improves TEN-FOLD with this man. Not to mention how that generates alot more transition buckets.

Instead of making a 180 degree change with a 28/29 year old guy coming off of injury, why not improve what we're ALREADY good at?

It's not a bad idea, but the thing is, the fast break offense does not always work. Hell, a lot of the time it doesn't work. This was proven by the series with Detroit. We we forced to play in the half-court offense and we failed. This is where Brand would help us out tremendously. I'm not saying that I would be against getting Josh Smith, but I only want him if we're unable to sign Brand. He is my first choice...

You both lose two RealGM dollars for watching Bad Boys 2.

We didn't play half court because it's successful....we did it because we had no other way to compete. A player the calliber of Elton Brand dictates how you run your offense, and immediately changes the face of everything...that's a GOOD thing. It'd be different if we brought in a mediocre talent with the same style of game, but this guy warrants a change in mentality a bit

Posted this elsewhere, too:

Who would have thought we would actually be talking about actually getting Brand on July 8th?

Who thinks the last GM could have put the team in this postion?

How hard is it not to be half delirious right now?

I'm not sure if I've ever actually watched Bad Boys 2. I just saw the scene where they watched it in hot fuzz.

Really glad you guys got Brand, takes a playoff team out of the west and adds a legit title contender to the east. Also, Al Jefferson will have a better shot at making the all-star team too.

Treat Carney well out there in Minny. He has promise and I think you guys will like him as long as you don't have super high expectations. He isn't going to blossom into a superstar, but he'll be a good player for you.

It's a good pick up for us.

Best case, we find a player to replace Mike Miller a few years down the line.

Worst case, there is none since we only gave up a 2nd rounder.

I think he and Corey Brewer will be great together on the fastbreak and on the defensive end.

As expected, its that Rubik's Cube Utah pick.

The Philadelphia Daily News and The Associated Press are quoting NBA sources as saying the Sixers have traded Rodney Carney, Calvin Booth and a first-round draft choice acquired from the Utah Jazz in the Kyle Korver trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves in return for a second-round pick and the $2.8 million trade exception acquired by the T'wolves in a 2007 trade with the Miami Heat.

Wow. Congratulations on landing Brand, Philadelphia!

I know some of you didn't like giving up the 1st rounder but this was a very smart deal by your GM to free up even more cap space. Good trade for both teams.

Actually, I'm glad it wasn't OUR first rounder. That Rubix Cube pick isn't worth squat to me.
