I know this is a fantasy trade, but its pretty big and I want people opinions on it so here it is. Please dont lock
Since most people dont see Andre Miller as the long-term solution at the point, and since we finally have a post presence in Brand who can set up on the low block, why dont we trade him for point guard who can actually spread the floor and shoot from the perimeter. Although most of us are loyal to Andre because he has helped rebuild this team since the Iverson trade, its pretty obvious that we need a point who can be in our long term plans that can shoot three and is preferably younger. With that said, I suggest that we do a sign-and-trade with Chicago for Ben Gordon at $8 million/year with a smaller contract like Sefelosha($1.9 million) thrown in. Our team would look like this:
PHILLY
Gordon
Iguodala
Young
Brand
Dalembert
Bench:
Williams
Green
Sefolosha
Speights/Evans
Smith
Why for Philly: We get a point who is an amazing scorer(18ppg), 3pt shooter(41%!!!) and free throw shooter(90%!!!). This would really help us late in games because he can be used as a go-to guy in the clutch and they cant do the hack-a-shaq on him. Obviously, Gordon is not a pure point guard, but seeing as how we finally have a post player in Brand(and Speights) we really dont need one anymore. Statistically and physically(6'3", 200lbs), Gordon is comparable to Chauncey Billups but hes younger. The only problem would be that Gordon might not want to settle for $8 million seeing as how he turned down more than that last year from the Bulls, but if we give him 5-10% increases in his salary and an opportunity to start full-time, I think that would be enough to get him to come. Aquiring Sefolosha makes up for the draft day trade in 2006 for Carney. No, Sefolosha is not a great perimeter shooter like we want, but his stats across the board are better than Carney's so thats a plus.
CHICAGO
Miller
Hinrich
Deng
Gooden
Noah
Bench:
Rose
Hughes
Nocioni
Thomas
Gray
Why for Chicago: This helps solve their logjam and guard and gives them an expiring contract instead of adding to their salary by extending Ben Gordon. It also gives them someone who can start in front of Rose and mentor him until he's ready to be the full-time starter. There has been talk of the Bulls keeping Hinrich and starting him at the SG position and this allows them to do that. If they prefer, they still could possibly trade Hinrich for a low post presence, cap space or whatever it is their team needs.
The Sixers probably get the better end of this deal in the short term, but overall I think its a pretty fair deal. Whaddya think?

Nay, I don't feel comfortable seeing Gordon handling the PG duties. I would rather keep a pure PG in Miller with all his shooting flaws. He can set up his teammates as anybody and that is crucial for our youngsters in the early stages of their careers.
I would love to have Ben Gordon off the bench but that is not happening.

The chances of that happening are none to none.
I know it's a fantasy trade, but Gordon at the helm is hazardous to the environment...Chicago doesn't want another PG on their team, Rose isn't coming off the bench.

While Ben Gordon fits the needs of the Sixers player, you should never sacrifice a superior player in Iguodala for that. Even if Ben Gordon is a better fit, he is NOT a better player. You are just decreasing your overall talent and that doesn't help your team in the end.

this title is misleading... not cool. and just because you deem that it is a "big" fantasy trade, doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the fantasy trade thread.

I can't see any NEED for the Bulls to acquire Andre Miller.

Just because you ask nicely that a thread stay alive, doesn't mean the post deserves its own thread. Please keep it in the fantasy thread.
(and it was a very misleading title).
