Very good deal for the Cavs. Williams is a very nice fit in their offense and his defense will improve when he is on a team where someone actually pays attention to defense. His defense was average in college and in Utah. He didn't become a piss poor defender until he was surrounded with other attrocious defenders like Bogut, Redd, Villanueva, Yi, etc. Average is good enough when you can pump in 15 to 18 a game and shoot the lights out. Cavs give up two back ups. Smith was going to play less this season with Varejao on board.
Pitty Jason Smith got hurt. We likely could have done a sign and trade for Delote West if Smith wasn't injured. Now that Cavs took on salary, maybe a move of Smith and Green for West could have been made.
Puzzling move for the Bucks. They get a far inferior player who doesn't even have an expiring contract.
Oklahoma City got to free up salary. Very efficient. I'm sure they will parlay Smith into a draft pick at some point this season.

Mo Williams is not a great PG by any stretch, but he might be a good fit next Lebron. Lebron can run the team and Mo can score.
Then again, al lot of good scoring guards would flourish next to Lebron. I agree with Gieger that they do not need a classic PG as much as another scorer to take pressure off of lebron. They get killed when teams dare their PG to shoot. You can't do that with Williams (although he can hurt them if he shoots too much- but I don't see Lebron letting that happen.)

Williams is 25 years old, going on 26, and is only 7 months older than the young PG you are referring to in West. And this trade will make the Cavs a much better team. Anyways, West wasn't even traded in this deal according to the wiretap. So now they have a logjam at PG, but it's a good problem to have.

I would think they could run Williams and West together in the back-court.

That's true, but they still also have Gibson, Pavlovic, Szerbiak, and Devin Brown. A couple guys have to go.

Wow, how much of this is actually wrong? Fact is the Cavs still have 20 million in expirings. Mo is 25 not 27-28 and the Cavs have not traded a young PG at all. They traded 2 over 30 players. I'm just appalled that you'd make such a bad post full of complete inaccuracies.

The post was referring to the rumored deal which had West going to Oklahoma. Not the one done by the 3 teams. That one is signifcantly better, the rumored deal was the one I disliked.

Wassup Phila fans? I still think the Cavs are behind Philly after this Mo trade, but they gave up nothing for a highly talented offensive player. Mo Williams is a step in the right direction and the Cavs aren't done dealing yet.
Detroit, Orlando, Philly, Toronto, Washington and Cleveland should all be battling it out for position in the East.

much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

It's an absolutely incredible move for Oklahoma City. Just shocking, especially when one considers they likely will later flip Smith and/or Mason for draft picks.
It's a solid move for Cleveland. They give up nothing of real value, and they get a very good player, albeit one who is a bit overpaid. He is a good fit in Cleveland as well.
As for the Bucks, well they prove yet again why they are an absolutely attrocious franchise that will never win so long as Herb Kohl is their owner. Just a terrible basketball move that does nothing for them for the next two years. It makes them worse as a basketball team and by the time they see financial savings, the best free agent crops in years will be signed by other teams and their top player will be an overpaid, aging has been.

This trade gives the Cavs more offense, which takes some pressure off James. It takes the Bucks a step closer to the Blake Griffin sweepsteaks, which I think they want. I still do not understand the Bucks draft pick. They passed on Anthony Randolph and Jason Thompson. They will pay for that mistake.
