But I agree with Sixerscan, I think Bargnani was pretty awful last season. Although, I have to say that he is still a quite promising player.

Offensively, I have to say that the Raptor's got the edge. Even if J-neal won't get his "inflated" 20/10 stats with a team game concept and with Bosh as no.1 option, I'd take Raptor's ability to knock down perimeter shots over Sixer's slashing ability. Although, If Iggy and Young can improve their shooting, sixers would definitely get the edge on offense.

Defensively, I think Sixers' are up there with the elite defensive teams in the league. The concept of team game and defense has been this team's constant commitment during their "pre-brand-era." The Sixers were very committed on defense that they got five guys on their starting line-up who can be potential lock down/good defenders on their position.

Overall, I'd pick the Sixers. Sixers got future 2nd-3rd best players of their team with Iggy and Thaddeus. While the Raptors is a team of Chris Bosh surrounded by good team players (yes, J-neal has come to that level after his injury). If you shut down Chris Bosh, It would really difficult for them to win a game. And with the Sixers, if you eliminate Elton Brand, you'd still have a competitive team that went to the play-offs last year.

You guys discount Bargnani to quickly. He was the 2nd best rookie his first year (and gaining), then started off great in his second year until Mitchel put an end to that. Of course with Bosh playing his position (and many Raptors fans thought he showed more potential than bosh at the time) he probably won't be able to realize his upside. Let's see what he does back at PF. He can still be an elite player.
I do what I feel, not because people ask me to do this,” Bargnani says, holding his hands over his head and doing a strange chicken dance.

This is a make or break year for him. He looked good in that 1st game of the season last year against us. I think he had like 20 points in about 20 minutes and was nailing jumpers from all over the place so no question he has talent.

I don't ever seeing him becoming an elite player but it is way too early to label him a bust.

With Lamarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy and Rudy Gay in the same draft class. Yes, he is a bust by definition. Just like Kwame Brown. Decent player, but he was picked #1 overall.

cxd13 wrote:Bosh > Brand - This is arguable but I'm going to give this to Bosh. Brand is a better defender but Bosh still plays solid D. Both of these players can bang down in the low post, but Bosh is faster, taller and can step back and hit that outside jumper with consistency. Bosh has a deadly midrange game and can take his man off the dribble, and can occasionally hit the 3 ball. Bosh is also a better ball handler. Brand though, is undoubtedly the better inside/post player, but I'm giving it to Bosh because he isn't as one dimensional.

Its interesting when someone tries to compare a player they watch every day and root for (Bosh) with a player they clearly don't know that much about (Brand.)

Brand is longer than Bosh. His standing reach is a center worthy 9'2", an inch more than Bosh.

Brand shoots jumpers at a much higher percentage than Bosh. Per 82games.com Bosh shoots jumpers with an eFG% of .414. His last 2 full seasons Brand's eFG% on jumpers was .470 and .475. So again your assertion is wrong unless you can be a better shooter but somehow shoot worse. Both are pretty reliant on their midrange jumpers- in fact Brand shoots more jumpers than Bosh (70% vs 58%.)

The statement about 3pt shooting is sort of silly, since he has never hit more than 10 in a season.

So basically Bosh is younger and faster. In all other areas Brand is either equal or has an edge. Brand is a career 20/10/50%/2blk player. If Brand has a full recovery he should be the equal of Bosh, unless Bosh has improved dramatically from last year.
