Excitement: Is it just me?!?!
I have not been this excited about the Sixers since 2000....
We came out and won, like, what, the first 10 games of the season?
And during the season, we produced:
THE SEASON THAT WAS ALLEN IVERSON.
Eric Snow as the definition of a Point Guard.
Hometown Hero Aaron McKie becoming Sixth Man.
Theo Ratliff becoming The Real Deal! How many shots could he possibly block!
George Lynch being the scientific, perfectly prototypical piece to put as the SF for Larry Brown, coaching us THE RIGHT WAY en route to Coach of The Year.
Then Theo went down... BOOOOOOOO...
Then we got the most important, heavily sought after player at the deadline, and who NOT ONE RUMOR HAD US CONNECTED TO, the 3 time (at the time, soon to become 4) Defensive Player of the Year, The NBA's leading Rebounder (and I believe 1st in blocks, it was either him or Ratliff)...
BOY WAS I EXCITED. Then I witnessed the Sixers 2001 Playoffs... Wow. Culminating with Iverson PWNING Tyronne Lue with the 3 point step over, and WINNING in overtime, we all know it was magical. MAGICAL.
It's been tough since.
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT WAAAAAAAAAIT THERE"S MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU'RE 2008-2009 SIXERS:
PG:
Andre Miller - The most textbook definition of a POINT GUARD in the NBA besides Jason Kidd, but a few years younger and therefore a shade still more athletic. Led the league with 10.9 assists on a terrible team years ago. Is still the man.
Louis Williams - At one point was the #1 HS prospect in the country, the closest thing in the USA to Allen Iverson, and the preseason #1 overall NBA draft pick. We got him in the mid/bottom of the 2nd round. Oh yeah, he took some knocks both in the real world and here on this board. Oh, he got pretty good, too. In case anybody didn't notice.
Royal Ivey: Was a big time college player, will ride the bench here. But better as an insurance policy on our bench than other benches
SG:
Andre Iguodala -- One of the most athletic players in the league, and arguably one of the most complete and versatile. Is he ELITE as a passer, shooter, dribbler, etc. maybe not. Is he pretty damn good at everything, YES. and he will now be here for a minute or two. Would much rather have him for 8 years than play against him, PISSED we let him go, for that time.
Willie Greem -- Is he still on the team? And are we still paying him? that same dumbass post ACL contract? Doooo Oveerr? No?
Kareem Rush -- AWESOME PICK UP!!!!!!!
SF: Thaddeus Young -- I'm not saying anything except we're LUCKY, he's got not Upside, but SPACE side, and we're LUCKY
PF: Elton Brand --- It took us 18 months, but we replaced a top-3 most talented #1 overall draft pick from 1995-2008 to another one (Iverson to Brand...bigups to LeBron and Duncan).... WE GOT ELTON BRAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This changes everything, and whereas Iverson was the man but killed us sometimes, Brand will only carry and help us.
PF: Jason Smith- Sucks...He was a good and talented kid
PF: Marreese Speights -- Watch this kid become the next Thad Young... We are SUPER LUCKY to have gotten him where we got him and even luckier we have him at all
C: Samuel Dalembert -- With his overall hidden talent, supreme athleticism, motivation cause of the Olympic snub, and new surrounding cast, this is the year he goes off
C: Theo Ratliff -- Is there any other player the old heads, die hards, and RealGM Sixers Board members from back in the day you would rather being playing backup center for our Sixers than Theo Ratliff? He was our quiet heart and soul back then, he will be again.
Sorry for the ramble, peace to all my Sixers brothas and sistas!

I think Andre Iguodala gonna have a awesome season this year with all the help this new 76ers team gonna give him! I hope he surprises everyone by bringing it up one more level and roll on Detroit for revenge..

Mario Hezonja. Sixers4lyfe. The 2015 Draft is critical for our future..

I'll go even furhter.....I am the most excited about this team than any other 6ers team. The 00' was good but you could see their window was going to be short. If the young players develop at a reasonable pace this team can go on a long run of contention and sustained excellence. Plus this team is years ahead of my expectations. When AI was traded I figured we'd have a few years of a black-hole. Than it would take a few more years to build the team. They never got sucked into the black-hole (well maybe a feew months after AI) but all the young players responded nicely.

Re: Excitement: Is it just me?!?!
I too can't wait for the season to start. Sixer's are going to be an exciting team to watch this year. I haven't been this excited about a season getting started far longer than the 2000 season.
PG – Andre Miller: There are only a few better PG’s in the league. One of Billy King’s better moves. Hopefully the Sixer’s can get him signed for one more year.
PG - Lou Williams: Has improved every year. Glad Stefanski was able to sign him over the summer. Still very young and has lots of potential.
PG – Royal Ivey: Let’s call him a practice player, sounds better than bench warmer doesn’t it?
SG – Iggy: Has been great for the 76er’s since the departure of Iverson. If Iggy’s production stays the same the 76er’s are paying about what a player of that caliber is worth. I for one like Iggy’s game, hoping that production doesn’t falter from the Brand effect.
SG – Willie Green: Was really hoping to upgrade here a little bit. I don’t think his salary is out of line with what other players are making at the same skill level.
SG – Kareem Rush: Everyone says good to great pickup. Another practice player.
SF- Thaddeus Young: Tons of potential. Has the potential to be better than Danny Granger. Going to be hard though because, Young isn’t going to get the touches that Granger is going to get. Going to be interesting watching Young develop.
PF – Elton Brand.: In 2006-2007 season (arguably of course) the PF in the game. Expect him to have an all-star season.
PF – Reggie Evans: Going to be interesting to see if Speights wins the job over Evans. I hope Speights beats him out for the 6er’s sake.
PF – Marreese Speights: Another player with tons of potential. Has the athleticism to become a great player in the NBA. Another player I’m going to love watching develop.
C – Samuel Dalembert: Will have to get his own opportunities by rebounding well on the offensive boards. I doubt too many plays will be called for his number. Sixer’s need him to play great defense and rebound. If he does those two things well it will be a plus for the Sixer’s.
C – Theo Ratliffe: Good pickup. Will do a serviceable job in backing up Dalembert.
PG – Andre Miller: There are only a few better PG’s in the league. One of Billy King’s better moves. Hopefully the Sixer’s can get him signed for one more year.

Re: Excitement: Is it just me?!?!
This is the most anticipating season for me since the 76ers won the title in 1982-1983. The 76ers had failed twice against the Lakers ( 1979-1980 and 81-82) and once in the eastern finals finals 80-81 to Boston. I had enough of the 76ers losses to Boston in th early 60's, so it's time to turn the tide and give Boston a taste of their own medicine.

Y'all should be psyched about the team, which may be the dark horse in the east. Can't wait to see 6'ers/Celtics games. Bring back that rivalry!

Love Rush, but hate Green. Are you kidding me?
Was Rush ever a starting SG on a playoff team?

Re: Excitement: Is it just me?!?!
Very excited, but opening day is quite a few weeks away. We have to have the opening of the NFL season before I get overly involved with the Sixers...Steelers open against the Texans, so that excitement is starting to perk inside right now. When I'm at the Sixers opener, I'll be equally excited to see this team, but the next month or so is like the NBA dead zone. Not much going on.

Stefanski had one of the best offseasons in Sixers history; how can you not be excited?
Pulled a huge coup with Elton brand; re-signed Iggy although for big dollars, got Lou Will locked up, etc.

Re: Excitement: Is it just me?!?!
We added a bonafide star that fills a position of need and gave up practically nothing, we drafted the big man that most of us wanted, we locked up two young players with star potential long term, and Ed did a hell of a job by rounding out the roster with the likes of Rush and Ratliff. You want to take this offseason and put it in a bottle, because there aren't too many that go this smooth. I haven't been this stoked in quite awhile.

i dunno why ppl tend to **** all over WG so much. He's not so bad. He just needs to be consistent. He gets hot n he causes problems. He's not a starter but great off the bench if he can hit his shots.

I'm very excited. Anything less than the Atlantic crown will be a disappointment to me. I really don't see any way I will be disappointed, unless Toronto is better than I think.

Anyone who knows me knows I like to make off the wall predictions that usually come true. I will go on the record right now saying Kareem Rush will have a much larger impact on this team than people are saying.
Walk the city lonely
Memories that haunt are passing by
A murderer walks your streets tonight
Forgive me for my crimes;don't forget that I was so young
Fought so scared in the name of God and Country

Which still isn't really much impact at all.
