He is very, very difficult to trade because of his contract and without taking a worse contract in return. I just don't think too many NBA teams will give up an expiring contract and absorb 3 years and over $15 million for such a limited role player. Most teams, rightly or wrongly, feel that they can find a guy with similar abilities to Evans for the minimum.

Evans isn't overly great defensively or perhaps even "good". He's just a solid low block defender, which every team needs. And I think you look at the ever increasing MLE and Reggie's 4.5 million isn't that much anymore. Reggie just doesn't have alot of value because of that extra year on his deal. But when the time comes to trade for a proven veteran, the Sixers have two trade assets in Evans and Miller. They are in 01 position to get that final piece.

It's the total value that is ridiculous for a guy of Evans's stature and ability. He is on the books for $4.65 this season, $5 million next season, and $5.1 million the year after that. In today's league and financial market, that all but destroys his trade value in a straight up deal. He could be used as a throw in as part of a bigger trade, but it will be very, very difficult to move him and get either a quality player who doesn't have a worse contract, or an expiring contract for Evans without giving up draft picks or money to the team taking him.
