I don't blame Walsh. I think I would rather keep Randolph than get Milicic and Jaric and only have $7.5 million in cap space to show for it in two years. Someone at some point, will get desperate enough to give them some expiring contracts for the guy and the Griz might still be able to do it. If Jaric expired in by end of 2010, this deal likely would have been done by now. Or maybe Walsh wants to get a young player and/or draft picks from the Grizz as well.

When you consider that Portland had to take back Steve Francis and his 2 year/$40MIL deal in order to move Randolph after he had a huge season (23.3 PPG and 10.1 RPG) 12 months ago, I don't think the Knicks are going to be able to move him for just expirings after he had an up and down season with them.
I agree that if Walker or another expiring contract were in the deal that it would be done by now. Perhaps Walsh is trying to find a third team to Jaric's deal?

I would love to be a third team. I heard that several of our guys expire in 2011 like EB. To get Jaric's expiring at that time would be lovely and allow us to resign our guys and go after other huge guys as well.

What? Brand just signed a 5 year deal. EB doesn't expire until 2013. When would you love to be the third team - in two years when Jaric is expiring or now? That made no sense.

Not that we should be trying to acquire expiring deals for 2011 or anything, but we actually do have a fair amount of salary that comes off of our cap the same year as Jaric. Dalemnbert's $12.2MIL, Evans $5MIL, and Green's $4MIL all expire then. The problem with saying that we should acquire Jaric for this purpose is that we would have to move $7MIL in salary to get him and other than the 3 above, we don't have any bad contracts hence it all means nothing.

Then hopefully the NBA doesn't change FA Rules by this time and we can do what we did with Iggy with our FA's and go after good FA'S. I love exciting offseasons like the one we had. Not boring ones.

He's getting closer to earning that deal but he's still overpaid. The contract no longer falls into the 25 worst in the league but it's still not a good deal that many teams would want.

If he puts up the same numbers he did last year, he will no longer be considered overpaid. Starting centers make a lot of money. Dampier makes the money Dalembert makes and he's not close. Diop, a marginal back-up, got $6 million a season. Centers get overpaid because there is so few true centers in the league. A guy like Z makes $14.5 million a season. At this point, Iggy might be more overpaid than Dalembert - again, presuming that he can duplicate what he did for us last season and stay healthy.
