I know, it's dumb because instead you have to say Durant is a member of the Thunder, which is appalling.

Did anyone else see the episode of south park with Family guy and Mohammad? Where it was revealed that the family guy writers were manatees? I'm pretty sure they had a hand in naming this team and coming up with the logo.

Thunder is the sound made by lightning. Depending on the nature of the lightning and distance of the listener, it can range from a sharp, loud crack to a long, low rumble. The sudden increase in pressure and temperature from lightning produces rapid expansion of the air surrounding and within a bolt of lightning. In turn, this expansion of air creates a sonic shock wave which produces the sound of thunder.

My definition. The sound of thunder is made by the sudden movement of fans leaving their seats to vomit in the bathroom. This sudden movement is caused by the horrible colors and name of their new franchise.

I already know what their tacky trademark at games is going to be: whenever someone makes a highlight play they'll play a thunder rumble over the speakers and say something like "That was a THUNDERous dunk!!"

Good, hopefully repeated rumbles over the speakers will blow them.

As most have already said, the name's not great and the logo and colour scheme are absolutely hideous.

I was kinda hoping they were gonna go with Barons, myself.

Far better than some names considered.

The Wind?

Kobe goes off for 50, Lakers wins by 40, LA Times headline:

"LA's Bryant Breaks Wind."

Boooooo! C'mon, yoyure better than that. By the way, as a video game player (NBA 2K series), I'm left wondering a couple of things.

1) Will the name "Thunder" even be in the game since most of the games rosters and design is set as of August 1st??

2) If the name "Thunder" is in the game, what will their jerseys look like since they've yet to be announced?

Yes, this is a trivial thing but I want my video game Sixers to be able to the actual Oklahoma City Thunder rather than the Oklahoma City franchise with a generic logo and black and white jerseys. By the way, I will be trading Andre Miller and filler to the Clips for B-Diddy when the game comes out.

I would think maybe a roster patch or something available for download that would update it?

And i know a while ago the thunder was a name of a team you could create on there wasn't it?

Sounds like a WNBA name...don't even know how they'd make a mascot.

Looks kinda feminine.

Also, based on team "history", they should be called the Bandits or the Heartbreakers.

Sonics forever!

I agree with everyone who says their team name sounds like a WNBA name. It's really a shame that the Sonics had to leave Seattle.

I'm still waiting to see what their jerseys look like. The home whites might be ok but the road uni's should be BRUTAL based on what we've seen thus far.
