This is nothing new because just as FireBK said, Mo gets along with the players but it some of his X's and O's that has raised questions. Either way, next to LB... I think Mo has been the best head coach of this franchise in the past 15 years.

lb was maybe the WORST coach we ever had. and was easily the worst gm( if you believe that king was just a figurehead).

I agree lb was the one calling the shots, but king was the official GM, however trivial his power. He was playing ballboy to lb, but if he had better moves in mind than lb, he needed to prove his mettle as the team's GM and stand up to lb. The fact that he did not, tells me that he probably had no better ideas. The signings that he made for ridiculous money showed that king was a horrible negotiator, and inadequate talent evaluator/team builder. It's unfortunate, because he is a real nice guy, but you need to be assertive and have a good plan in building your team. King's plan under lb was to folow the leader. After lb, his plan was to sign the current roster/add new players for as much money as they ask for in order to make them happy. He considered his first priority to sign the young players and give them financial security. He was wrong. His first priority was to find and mix talent and second was to manage the cap. He did neither well enough.

Uhmm, you're going to take an umbrage at something said by a guy whose name is Docwasoverrated? Is there a better way of saying "I'm a hater?" LB is a hall of fame coach who took over a 20 win team and led it back to the Finals and respectability. Dr. J was one of the top 25 basketaball players of all time. Enough said. Nothing anyone writes on this board will ever change any of those things.

I am happy for Mo Cheeks. He is hard working, sincere, and honorable both as a coach and a person. His life has been a success and will continue to be because of those qualities. He is one of those people that everyone likes and wants on their "team". The sky is the limit now.

TGP, I like many of the things you write about, but I can't see what you've said about lb being a worse coach than Cheeks. Docwasoverr, as said by the others, huh??

None of us can never discredit lb's coaching. He's got an incredible record making bad teams good, and he also won a championship. As a GM/coach, he's a bad fit. I know Croce took credit in putting that 01 team together, so we can't chalk up the makeup of the team solely to lb. I recall lb loved Coleman and Croce kicked him off the team. After Croce left, lb was calling shots with bk. I fault bk for that.

LB as coach and LB as GM are two separate and distinct animals. He was never the true GM in Philly, but he was given way too much power in personnel matters and frankly, that is never a good idea in the NBA and even less of a good idea with someone who has LB's personality. That was the fault of management and not the fault of LB - he took the power they gave him. Smart teams and GMs hold their grounds. That's why Dumars has a shinny ring to show for LB's tenure in Detroit.
