If Embiid is finally finding his touch with the Wilsons, and returns to last year’s form, we’re good. Providing Doc doesn’t muck it up too bad, and we can get a healthy post-season out of the big guy. (Yeah, I know, the next time will be the first time.).

Good for what, though? As it stands, this is a 1st rd., maybe 2nd rd. exit group if all goes well.

Without some additions, and hopefully one big subtraction (and I'm not talking about Ben), that would be the best you could hope for.

Yep. This is still a 44ish win, borderline play-in team if nothing changes between now and April.

Biid also took less jumpers in general.

Before his bad landing against the Wiz, Embiid looked like he had things figured out. And even with the bum knee, we had home court against the Bucks if we didn’t give those games away against the Hawks. Losing Danny hurt a lot, given his history with pulling out close ones when it counts. But keeping Ben in there, in the halfcourt, down the stretch was a losing proposition. I’d surely hate losing all that fine defense and transition, but that deer in the headlights stuff has been murder for years.

They looked pretty good when they started the season in good health. We nailed down #1 in the East last year, and how much good did it do us once Embiid got dinged and we lost Danny? Plus our coach was too unconditionally supportive of our deer in the headlight pg, while our fearless rookie sat on the bench. If we managed to get Ben back on the floor by the playoffs, I would hoped he would have a shorter lease. If he doesn’t, I hope our GM has add someone significant at guard and/of forward. Otherwise, as long as we make the playoffs and we are miraculously healthy, I still like our chances.

I like our chances of a first round exit unless we get reinforcements

Not to belabor the point, but you like our chances to do what? Win a championship?

I this group is 100% healthy, they will do very well to get to the second round.

But you are belaboring a very pessimistic point. Embiid said after his big game last night that he’s still nowhere close to feeling 100%. If you’re giving me Embiid at 100%, of course we’ll get to the 2nd round. No one can handle him. He’s got a chance at dominating any game. That was Sam’s original evaluation of him. A question about his health, but no doubt otherwise. If Morey adds a good starter, along with the complimentary roster he’s put together, we’re an interesting variation of the Bucks.

Have you seen the Sixers last few games against good teams?

Or perhaps last night's affair against a shorthanded Hornets squad that required Embiid going God-mode to barely win?

This team has a 2nd round ceiling even if Ben came back and suited up today.

No one here question's Embiid's greatness, but Morey would have to add a Harden level starter and subtract Harris for this group to have a prayer of getting past the second round. That isn't pessimism, it's stone cold reality.

Yes, thank God they’re back to pulling out the close games again. They started out that way, fell off the planet when Biid, et al went down, losing all the close games. It would be great if they could put away the teams they should beat early, and maybe Doc can improve on this with better rotations. But winning the close ones for now, as Embiid gets back into shape, will have to do.
