Embiid dominated them in that PNR. Harden had 13 assists which means players hit their shots and were involved, all of them. That right there is the recipe to go deep.

I'll keep saying it, I hope that when the playoffs come along and Joel is out of the MVP race mode... They play more team basketball.
As traditional, they work the big man throughout the game and let him get his points and carry the team. But he doesn't have the energy to close out games or defend the way he will need to. It will be nice if they can get it going as a team, and allow for Joel to step up when the team struggles.
It is nice that this team is CAPABLE of paying so many different ways, but scary that you never know what you're going to get

FireMorey wrote:That Thybulle 3 possession ended well, but it's a good example of what has been plaguing the Sixers in recent games. Harris had a wide open jumper, passes it up(twice). Passes it to Maxey who drives and has a decent look but passes it up. The possession ends with a Thybulle 3, which is not ideal. They got very lucky it ended with points.
I'm not sure what's gotten into Maxey lately but he's extremely gun shy. He passes up so many clean mid ranged looks.
Thinking the exact same thing on that play. Tobias has an elbow jumper with no one within five feet of him and passes? Maxey gets into the lane and dumps it to Thybulle? Three potential shots, and they ended up with the lowest percentage one - and it goes in. It was that kind of day, but the Sixers, especially Harris, Embiid, and Maxey, do that far too often.

Very good win, but to be honest it looked like the Hornets thought that the game was tonight.
It was nice to see the ball move again, and that Harden/Embiid P&R is lethal when Embiid either goes straight to the rim or takes the little jumper without putting the ball on the floor.
Tobias is settling into his role, which is a great sign, and the Tobias-Maxey led bench seems to be the way to go. I also loved the run they made with the starters with Green and Niang in place of Thybulle and Tobias - adding two unconscious shooters to Harden/Embiid is something we should see more often.

Tobias is better than Ben Simmons. Ben is a liability in the playoffs. Tobias even have a better contract.
My point? If you agree with me and we’re gonna get someone better than Harden for Tobias.

Love to have Tobias and Maxey lead the bench. They’re more active in this role. While Harden and Embiid need each other.

Exactly. You also notice these guys are deferring to Embiid right?
I just have a feeling we could have win almost all games with a double digit margin since the Harden trade. But we just want to be more battle tested for the playoffs while helping Embiid for his MVP race

When they move their feet and move and share the ball all around the offense works crazy well. Charlotte is ridiculously bad on D and shot nearly 50% from the floor, but take a big win when you get it.

Curious if the Sixers will play the starters tomorrow, because the Sixers could fall behind Toronto since they play each other and they're only 2 games back. If the Sixers want to guarantee home court in the first round, need to win a few more at least.

And love even more having Niang and Green out there with Harden and Embiid during that 3rd quarter run. Quite frankly, Niang and Green should start with Harden, Maxey, and Embiid. Killer lineup that fits.

It's what I said yesterday, 49 points from the bench vs 8 points against Pistons, look no further than this.

Definitely the feel-good win this team needed, but an outlier with regard to its replicability. Obviously the team won't very often shoot 61% from the field and make 21 threes on 49% shooting from beyond the arc. If it did that for 82 games it would have the best regular season record in NBA history.

Classic case of winning causing bench scoring rather than vice-versa. The Sixers' bench scored their final 24 points of the game, starting when up 120-88 with roughly half the fourth quarter remaining. The game was already won when the bench had scored only half of its point total.
Same thing happens in the NFL when people posit that "rushing attempts cause winning." When teams are up big in the fourth quarter and trying to run out the clock, they almost exclusively run the ball and rack up high numbers of rushing attempts. The correlation is illusory, however, in that winning caused the rushing attempts, rather than vice-versa.
This game was won by the starters and the bench reaped the rewards. The lowest +/- among the starters in that game was +21.
