No way the Thunder trade Harden. He is probably their most popular player.

Having said that...I was looking at what they really needed and a straight man up defender was one of the things they need. Iggy would fit pretty well there with his passing ability.

Not gonna happen though.

I brought up the possibility months ago, but I don't see it happening. Harden is too good, a better scorer, younger, and doesn't have achilles problems like Iguodala.

Harden looked like ass in the Finals.

Can he really be you main option?

I mean how much of his success due to playing with Durant and Westbrook?

OKC could definitely use a passer, vet, and man-up defender. Coming off an all-star season and a decent playoff run, maybe OKC considers? The deal would obviously have to be sweetened a little but Iguodala fits very well in OKC.

Come on people....the only reason the Thunder make a big trade involving Harden is to avoid cap/luxury tax issues....all these suggestion INCREASE their salary for the critical '13-'14 luxury tax hit year.....you do understand that, right? There' no way they would be interested in Andre at his salary. For the next two years, Andre will be making MORE than Harden even if he gets a max contract. Would have to be a three was deal where OKC gets guys on rookie deals.

When would they start saving? Harden makes 5.8 mil next year and Perkins makes 7.8. That's about 13.6 for both. Andre makes 14.7 next year and we would have to include more stuff (salary).

Andre is at 15.9 the year after. Let's say Harden makes 12 mil in yr 1 of new deal...so that's about 20.5 mil between him and Perk. Basically, about 4.5 mil difference over Andre alone (again, we had to send additional salary so I can't imagine they save anything for two years). Then Andre is a FA and they would need to re-sign him (right? You don't trade a future star for a guy you don't plan to retain).

If they want to make things work, they are better off just re-signing Harden and using the amnesty on Perkins. They save a lot more that way than doing these proposed deals with Philly. Plus., they still have a really young up and coming player as opposed to an older player with less upside.

Honestly, we have a better chance at getting Westbrook from them IMO. His max deal starts to kick in next year...he's the guy who takes so much heat for taking too many shots away from Durant. Send them a package around Jrue/Vucevic (so they can dump Perk)/ET and whatever else. Maybe future #1's instead of ET.

whatever. turner can be joseph gordon-levitt and harden or westbrook can be the black kid and collins as danny glover. it would be great.

ok in all seriousness now since you have made a good point.

iguodala/vuc for harden/perk works

they dont save anything next year
the following year they save the 4.5 million you reference minus vuc (so about 3 million total)

after that though, they get real savings. harden making 13 million and Perkins making 8.5. Compared to Iguodala on a new deal (where he wont make anything close to the $16 million his final year) if igz makes $12 million (an aggresive number) then the thunder save about eight million including vuc.

after that they save oodles.

what do you expect iguodala to get after his contract expires? a max deal? i really doubt it.

you still have to pay a guy after you amnesty someone, just fwiw. owners dont like to do that.

like i said, this is the crazy fantasy time. i think this could help both teams. might not ever happen. but its fun to talk about!

What I don't get is...

What is their motivation to trade him this offseason? He's cheap next year and he's more valuable to them than Andre is. Why don't they just let it play out another year?

like i said, if they think the heat are their only obstacle and they become obsessed with beating them.

as i mentioned, presti is probably too patient to do this, but you never know.

isn't this whole thread about coming up with hypotheticals to pump the page count up so the people that check in once every few days get pissed that we're diluting sf76s's posts?

lmao...in that case, let's discuss going after Durant. Imagine trading for him and Dwight this off-season? Wow, we can do it!

Because you can get a very very valuable player for Harden right now. Ask Duncan if he would have won all those championships without Bruce Bowen.

The Thunder would get a more talented and athletic version of Bowen that can start along with Westbrook and Durant without needing a certain amount of shots to be effective on offense.

Having Sefolosha come off the bench also adds impressive defense when Iggy sits.

The fact that, in scenarios above, Perkins leaves is kinda tough for the Thunder. Having a big body like that is important for the Thunders success.

Oh, and since when did Iguodala become the missing piece for them? Andre isn't exactly a James stopper.

29.3 PPG, 8.5 reb, 6.3 assists in 4 games vs. us this year on 60% shooting.

well that's a lot better than they did in the finals.

i really think if dre has durant and ibaka behind him he has as much of a chance to stop him as anyone. at the end of the day lebron is quite good.

alright it isn't a lot better now that i look at it. i blame that on a weak frontcourt though. like i said if iggy can't stop him no one can.

i fully appreciate that it wouldn't be a very rational trade by presti. but after 6 years of great management he has to be due right? let me live damn it!
