bump for Lakers adding Mozgov to big money but not getting Whiteside, Durant or Derozen. Definitely looks like bottom 3 is going to be Philly, LAL and Brooklyn again.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Phoenix and Kings are going to be bad in a loaded West. Hoping for Lakers to be 3-4 worst.

Phoenix will likely be in the mix as well as it will be a development year for them just like it is for us.

Kings should get a few game bump for the coaching upgrade but on the flip side so far they've lost Rondo and Belinelli and might replace them with Waiters. I don't even know what to make of that, I guess its a downgrade but slop for slop ultimately. Their overall standing will be based on if Boogie quits on them. If Boogie and Gay play hard then they are a 30ish win team which should be between 5-12 but not in the conversation for worst overall record.

The Lakers look like they're gearing up for stealth tank #3. I can't name 2 teams that will be worse than them. Even Phoenix is a stretch because their backcourt is very good when healthy.

Where did Rondo go? I haven't seen that he has signed with anyone yet. He was speculated to go to the Nets but they just signed Jeremy Lin.

I thought I had seen a report a week ago that he was unlikely to go back due to issues with the team but can't seem to find it now. So I guess he could still return, he certainly hasn't signed anywhere yet. Really hoping BC doesn't bring him here.

The Lakers will once again find something else to focus on this year except winning. They don't want to give a 2017 pick to the Sixers and follow it with a 2019 pick to Orlando. Good news is the Sixers get an unprotected Laker pick in 2018, but will they strike out again in FA again next year?

Also, no one will give the Lakers any crap at all about tanking.

Which big time free agents are there next summer (except Westbrook, which seems unrealistic because they also have Russell as their PG).

They will be bottom 5 I guess this season, which gives us a fair chance at their pick.

Depending on how FA plays out I think Memphis and the Mavs could become the unexpected tire fires that occur now and again when an older team falls off a cliff. Too early to tell yet, but there is usually some unexpected dumpster team thanks to injuries, defections, etc.

These are the odds of the Lakers pick conveying based on lottery seed:

1st: 36%
2nd: 44%
3rd: 53%
4th: 62%

So there's a decent chance of the pick conveying no matter how bad they are. It'll be pretty unlucky if they keep their top 3 protected pick 3 years in a row.

The #4 in the coming draft is huge. I still think we finish at the bottom together with BKN and LAL this year, CHA and DAL will be bad this year too.

Deng signed with the Lakers, solid signing for them that should help but not move the needle too much. Gotta imagine they're pretty much done the rest of FA, maybe one other signing.

Any chance the Sixers can acquire an unprotected first from Dallas? They may be really bad.

Deng got 72 mil from the Lakers!!! LOL keep commanding the tank Mitch. 130 million on guys who i would say helped us more than their own team...Lookin damn good right now for a 2nd pick...lakers look easily like the worst team in the west possibly nba lol. Brooklyn or Lakers have worst record in the league next year No doubt. Id say lakers, phx, denver, kings are easily the worst teams out west.

I would have liked Deng for half of those years and two thirds of the yearly salary. He may move the needle for them enough to give us a better chance cashing their pick next year, and these long term deals are eating into next year's cap space so if the pick flips over the the following year unprotected it should still be in a good place for us. This is the perfect Lakers signing for the Sixers.

Yep. Jim Buss and Vlade Divac are the ultimate tank commanders for us.

Thanks Hinkie!

Love the Deng signing. Was starting to get legit worried that somehow that pick didn't convey again, but with Deng, LAL should be solidly in the 5-10 range next season.

No we need SAC to save us from ourselves and sign Waiters to a big money deal.

The Nets will be horrible, Phoenix will be bad, the Mavs may well tank, um the Sixers are incredibly young, the Heat are falling apart and Riley is not above stripping and tanking, especially if Bosh has issues again, New Orleans just smells bad as a horrendously built team. In a really deep top end draft this year expect a lot of stealth tanking by teams.
