Have been a member on here under one name or another since 2003, but don't post often. Love checking in every day though as opposed to doing actual work. Brighter days ahead and I expect we'll see more new fans of the team joining in the near future, which is never a bad thing. Keep up the great posts!

Um, I've been avoiding this thread, but clicked by accident. I'm here. I've been here since 2001, like Iverson era Sixers. Fan since the early 90s. Old enough to remember the 53 pt Willie Burton game with fondness. Now that team was terrible.

I have been on the Forums for a few years and lurked for longer. Have been lurking on 76ers page since Brett Brown came on board as I was a huge fan of him as coach in Australia and for the Australian mens team.
Looking forward to seeing this team play this year as I love Ben Simmons and what he will bring to the Sixers.

Hope you don't mind a Bulls fan contributing, but I just enjoy watching great basketball, and watching Simmons on a fast break will be exactly that.

Aussiepiston1 saying G'day to all ya'll from Sydney Australia.

My name was dedicated to Iverson when He played for the Pistons since I've been a fan of his and the Sixers since he was drafted.

I even flew to the United States in 2001 and met him at a Sixers vs Lakers game through randomly walking up to his Mum and introducing myself hahaha.

Can't wait for Process to pan out.

Peace.

Well, I can't resist. Long time lurker. Think I've posted twice. I have to admit, fo' fi' fo' got me into the Sixers. I was driving a Jack'n'Jill ice cream truck at the time. :-? I had 10 game tix for a couple of years during the Barkley, Gminski days. I moved out west, now located in Denver. To keep up with things Sixer, I started at Courtside Country Club then moved over here some time about 12 years ago I'm guessin'.

Previously g selle.

Been reading this board since 2003, then finally joined in 2008. So that's a good almost 15 years on realgm. Lived in Phila during the Iverson years and that's how the 76ers became my favourite team.

While I don't post as much as I'd like, I read this board daily.

I have only been on this board for 2-3 years, but was on a number of other sixer boards before then. I came to realgm all the time for news, but didn't realize that the boards were so active.

My first Sixers memories were from Barkley's rookie season, and I became a daily follower of the team probably in about 87 or so.

I don't remember having a reaction to the 86 draft and trade debacle at the time, but I remember watching Moses, and Bobby Jones a lot before then.

Wondering if SixersFan1976 is still around under a new name? He was the go to source during the Iverson trade.

SixerFan1976 was the man back in the day. Don't know why he suddenly left. Couldn't wait to read his information almost every day, or every few days when he used to do updates.

I've seen him on Philly.com a couple times. One's writing style is like a fingerprint. You know who someone is.

Anyway...most people call me Doc. I don't post very much around here, but I'll lurk a bit more.

Mostly, the Sixers are my first love. I fell for them when I was 5 years old in 1973 when my sister took me to my first game. I remember being 8 or so and going to the Spectrum when they had those preseason doubleheaders and walking over to this guy in a fur coat sitting in the stands.

I knew he was a player on the other team so I (and godsister) went up to him and asked for an autograph. The guy looked a bit weird and a little spacey in the eyes, but he was very nice to us. As I became an adult I now realize that he was higher than a kite in a hurricane.

That player...John Lucas.

But my love for basketball as a sport and the Sixers as a team has never wavered. Ever.

Hi all, some of you have seen me here over the years-- I'm from Chicago and hence have been a longtime Bulls mod, but I have lived in the broader Philly area for a decade and a half, in the Iverson era, and I root hard for all of Philadelphia teams when they're not playing Chicago (except that I always root against the White Sox).

My kids are lifetime Philly sports fans, and we go to a fair number of Sixers games each year. I was sad to see Hinkie go and even sadder to see Colangelo arrive, but try to take it all in stride. Very excited for Simmons, maybe even more excited-- cautiously, nervously excited-- for Embiid, and hoping that the team will improve enough for a big-time FA to sign in the next year or two.

I'm the same as you, my first memories of the Sixers are the tail end of the Dr. J era when we still had Moses Malone, Andrew Toney, and Mo Cheeks, and Charles Barkley was the young upcoming superstar. I remember the 1986 draft day debacle when we lost Moses and our chance to build a contender around Barkley.

I remember Dr. J's last playoff series against Milwaukee in the 1987 playoffs, losing to Terry Cummings, Sidney Moncrief et. al. and crying afterwards because my favorite player retired. I hated the Bucks for awhile after that lol. It's amazing to think I'm the same age now as he was then.

The Barkley years were frustrating. He was such an amazing player (underrated to this day), but poor management (F you Harold Katz) doomed us to failure, and once we traded him there were many dark years.

Then the Iverson era I became a huge fan again. And again, short-sighted and foolish management (Hughes over Pierce and Nowitzki, Mutombo trade, Billy King) meant we would never get over the hump with our superstar again.

Lost interest in the team and the sport for several years until the Evan Turner draft (wanted Cousins or Favors), then the playoff run w/Iggy and the Bynum trade.

Wasn't sure about Sam Hinkie, but draft day 2013 made me a believer. We finally had smart, disciplined management that was patient and committed to building a champion. Now I hope BC can finish the job. Really excited for this new era and I believe that Ben Simmons is the superstar who can lead us to the championships that we should have won with Barkley and AI.

I joined here 14 years ago now (June 2002), the year after we went to the finals with Iverson. I was just out of college then. Guys like prerak, CPops and dabods (Derek Bodner) were all prolific posters. It's nice to see a few fellow long-term posters still around talking Sixers from that time. Have been active and inactive off and on through the years.

Was always calling for a radical plan to find another superstar right from the time I joined ("The Tim Duncan Brief" lol). Finally we're going for greatness instead of mediocrity. Thanks Sam, we'll never forget you.

How could I forget? Lol. IIrC, he nailed the Iverson trade days before it happened and also nailed one or two drafts, but then it looked like his source got outed because the info started going bad. Eventually, he said "enough" and got sick of defending himself and bailed. It was the 2000s version of Prokafor vs. Nokafor with his supporters saying he was legit and his detractors mocking the supporters.

Good times! If the other poster is correct about him being on Philly.com, I'm thinking it's the guy who has been Embiid's biggest advocate there (he usually argues with JohnnyNite every single time - I don't know why I even go to the comments there anymore).

Honestly I joined this website because I had a man crush on Tony Wroten

Im 24 but I remember the 2001 playoff run, its basically what got me into basketball. I also watched Game 4 of the 1983 NBA Finals on youtube and honestly that is one of the greatest ways to win a championship IMO. Mo Cheeks dunk as the buzzer went off was just awesome.

I don't really enjoy talking about statistics a whole lot, especially advanced statistics. I understand they do give an idea of a player's footprint in the league but nothing tells the whole story like watching a game.

I try to watch every Sixers game if possible although this year has been a bit tougher due to working in the evening.
