A multi year deal wouldn't have been bad, Otto is on the verge of breaking out and possibly becoming a star. A rotation with Otto and Covington would be great, both good defenders and knock down sharp shooters. He could of been worth gamble?

Agreed if we were going to go for a multi-year deal it would be for an Otto Porter.

Washington will match, the Kings are just making the Wiz pay the max if Porter accepts their offer, or he might use whatever terms might poison that offer a bit for the Wiz to get an even better deal from the Wiz. No need for us to play that game, not unless you are willing to pay Porter and do so with a Roco sign and trade for him. Best to just skip those shenanigans this year.

I thought Porter is a pretty good gamble for a max. His analytics are good and is said to be projecting upwards.

I'm glad someone is holding the Wizards feet to the fire on this one. Hopefully it's a 3+1 with a trade kicker etc. wiz are the east "contender" most likely to still have their core around 4 years from now, like to see them as limited as possible.

The Kings appear to be this summer's Nets from last summer. Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.

So, Lakers traded Russell, a PG, so that they could sign Hill, a PG, to pair with Ball, a PG.

Spoiler:
Don't have an issue with it, Russell seemed to be more of a SG anyway, and I actually think Ball needs another 'passing' guard to play with him, just a humorous sequence of events.

Leaving spite (for Celtics) and fear (of Celtics) aside, we should hope that the Lakers are as bad as possible to give them the best odds at landing #1. Hill would make them appreciably better.

How I picture the Nets and Kings front office as they drive up the price of free agents across the league

I would love for the KIngs to get Porter...In a way, I feel bad for them and want them to be good again soon (especially by 2019 lol).

Fox
Hield/Bogdonavic
Porter/Jackson
Skal/Giles
WCS/Papagianis

That's a very promising core, and one that could potentially not be top 3 by 2019. Maybe they can add a few vets too, but we'll see what happens with them.

As for LAL, signing Hill would probably move them out of the bottom 5 IMO. I'm totally fine with that happening, as we don't need the #1 pick, and the risk of the pick being 2-5 is just too high for my liking.

Hayward would be the 4th best player on the Sixers. Yawn. Never seen so much free agency hype for a guy who is a borderline all-star, not even a superstar.

Hill + Randolph to SAC on multi-year deals. Safe to say they won't be the worst team in 2019?

Maybe, but given the cap space that saps up, I think it's also safe to say they won't be close to a playoff team either.

30+ million per year for Hayward??? A guy who is a borderline all-star? Holy moly. Ainge is having the worst offseason I can ever remember a GM having. That deal will be sorely regretted before too long.

Supposedly Jazz are about to go after Otto Porter now.

Porter could be just as good as Hayward in a couple years, but I don't know why these teams are throwing max contracts at non-superstars. The Celtics comitted over 200 million to two players in the last two years and neither of them are even close to being superstars. If I'm the Jazz I don't blow 100+ million on Porter either. I'd just roll with the roster they have and develop their roster. Save money for a true superstar pursuit in the future.

He's good. He's worth it. That's the league right now. He's a top 20 player. This isn't like signing Horford. Hayward should help them win much easier. I wouldn't call him a star but he's as close to a star without being a star.

Nah, def not. He's neither worth it nor a top 20 player. This is a really bad signing. That bum GM up there has no clue what he's doing. Said for years he's the worst GM in the league and people are seeing I was dead-on all along(did you expect anything else?).

He'd be the 4th or 5th best player on the Sixers, I'm not sure he's better than Covington tbh, and they should have saved that money for a franchise-changing talent like Paul George or Klay Thompson in a couple years.
