If Embiid does not play..
Maxey has to score like Trae by attacking Al/Tatum
Harden has to score like Dejounte by attacking Al/Tatum
Tobias has to score like John Collins by attacking guards
Melton has to score like Bogdanovic
Reed has to play like Capela/Okongwu
Sixers has to generate TOs and ORebs, more opps
Harden-Reed constant 2 man game
Maxey-Tobias constant 2 man game
Fwiw, I like our defense with Melton-McDaniels-Reed.

Honestly, i doubt we beat the Celtics with or without Embiid, and the Nets series didnt really change my mind. Relying on (post prime) Harden and Embiid is ok in the regular season but neither has been particularly successful in the postseason, since other teams can take advantage of their limitations and limit their offensive impact. It is what it is, at this point

If Biid is healthy, I wouldnt be surprised if he put him on Tatum this series, most likely in crunch time.
Two things that back this up for me is Tatum’s numbers against Biid in volume and % and GSW putting Draymond&Wiggisn on Tatum&Jaylen.

Yes, if you put Embiid on Horford, his defense is neutralized either way, it would be more productive to put Harris or Tucker on Horford.
The issue is not about Embiid being able to defend Tatum or not, but about stamina, that's why he cannot defend him for long.

I’m happy to sit Embiid in Game 1. No one will be expecting us to win in Boston anyway, we’d be playing with house money. I think our guys would play loose and aggressive.
On the flip side, i can see us tensing up going into a Game 1 with Biid, where he’ll try to do too much when his body won’t cooperate.

They need Embiid to win the series, but I don't think it's a stretch at all that they could steal game one without him. I just wish it was someone with more imagination than Rivers (meaning at least some imagination) cooking up a game plan.

I hear you and I have not been high on Doc. But I have to give credit where credit is due. During the time Maxey, Embiid and Harden were out, Doc was pretty imaginative. He got some impressive wins out of this team. Do I think the 76ers would win a playoff game against the Celtics without Embiid? Nope. But the 76ers B team can beat any team in the NBA as long as they are not expected to win.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

I think they could have a shot, and I'm excited to see Paul Reed on the big stage. They could be more relaxed knowing that they are not at all expected to win and they could cook the Celtics.

I guess, but really it's just for protection. Even if it doesn't necessarily prevent a sprain, it would tend to make a sprains less severe.

All hands on deck. I don't agree with him sitting. Play and let the medical team and coaches manage you during the game. Be available to come off the bench in the 2nd half. You're not worried about your stats at this point, you've won MVP. He was day to day in the last series, now who knows? Either it's just worse than thought and they should say he's out, or it's BS
Him missing game 1 means guaranteed series loss IMO.

Based on odds given by Vegas, Embiid’s injury is much more serious than they are letting on.
It’s going to be a sweep if he doesn’t play first 2 games.

Yea, we’re likely smoked. I’m seeing Boston -350 to win the series. Seems like no one knows when embiid will be back and then you assume he won’t be close to 100% when he does come back.

If it's grade 2 that's a 4-6 week injury. Which means he either misses the whole series or plays the whole series limping around and moping.
Can't win championships when your best player is chronically injured every playoffs.

Re: Boston in the 2nd round. How do the 76ers win the series?
Unless the NBA declares every playoffs will be a 2 week regular season followed immediately by the playoffs (Which is effectively what the 'bubble' was) I wouldn't put too much optimism. Embiid is injury prone. That doesn't mean he can't go stretches, even months without injury... but we see that the odds of Embiid being healthy for 2 months *AFTER* a full NBA regular season are pretty god damn slim.
Oh well. There's always the in-season tournament...

The chances he takes in the air are ridiculous and clearly his body can't take it. The MCL vs Washington was him being reckless and so was this situation.

Re: Boston in the 2nd round. How do the 76ers win the series?
Dont listen to the naysayers saying we couldn’t win. Hawks were able to win in G5 without Dejounte.
If we ever steal G1, then just play him in G3. That’s the best outcome.
See in G1 if there are some flaws in this Celts team that we can exploit, if its effective or promising in G1 then we might even sit out Biid in G2 if we lose G1.
Harden averaged more points than Tatum or Brown in our head to head match-ups. Maxey just needs to get it going. Maybe Maxey should try to hunt Al or Tatum.
Tobias and Melton has to atleast match White and Brogdon’s production.
Then our defense has to generate a lot of steals without Biid. We need those extra possessions to make up for the scoring.
Easier said than done but “ya’ll want it easy and nothing is easy”.
