Hopefully Silver does us a favor and suspends Embiid for the season. Morey should then trade George, Martin and Oubre and let's really get the tank under way.

Given our luck. We’d tank, then we lose the pick to the Thunder because of the result of the lottery
Or we draft Cooper Flagg then he’d forget how to shoot

if we ever get into tank position I am sure we'd do a trade with the thunder to get it back or move the protections around

George and Maxey has to take 20 3s a game.

I think once our top two guys come back and the spacing improves, our role players will take (and make) more threes as well.

For who and what?Spoiler:
I would much rather trade Joel than do that deal. Also Oubre and GSW famously did not mesh well together.

We can just find a third team for Oubre. Or maybe replace Oubre with Caleb.
I dont think anyone can pass up the chance of teaming up George, Giannis and Goel.
Anyway, its not happening.

Morey would definitely do it.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
The key difference in the Suns game was Yabu’s ability to pick and pop against Nurkic’s heavy drop coverage, along with Paul George’s skill in creating scoring opportunities against smaller defenders. These two factors opened up a lot of clean looks for our shooters, similar to the Celtics’ offense with their stretch 5 and Tatum relentlessly hunting mismatches before kicking out to open shooters.
We should avoid pairing Drummond with Caleb and Oubre, as the spacing suffers with those three on the floor together. Instead, we should either have Yabu at the 5 with those two for better floor spacing or stagger Lowry/Gordon with Caleb/Oubre.
For our bench units, we should pair Maxey with wings and Yabu. This setup allows us to run Maxey and Yabu in pick-and-pop actions or have Yabu attack smaller defenders. If we have trouble scoring, we can insert Gordon or Lowry in the place of Caleb or Oubre.
Meanwhile, we can use a 3 guard lineup with George and Drummond, running 1-3 PnR with George attacking mismatches and kicking out to shooters, while Drummond focuses on crashing the boards. If defense is weak in this unit, we can insert Caleb in place of one of the guards.

basketball gods want us to tank. I say we do. Let's punt the season and come back with a top 5 pick next season.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
On probability and tanking in our scenario:
If the Sixers' current odds are 7% (midpoint of 5%–10%) and adding a legitimate superstar piece raises this to around 15%–20%, you’re looking at an increase of 8%–13% in championship odds.
Considering the 20% implied probability of drafting a player who pans out, the expected increase in championship odds would be:
~1.6% to 2.6%
I think there's a lot of underlying complexity here.
a) The contract implications of a star rookie player next to Embiid/Maxey/PG
b) Potential frustration of Embiid
To be honest, I think it's worth the tank and taking a 'rehab' year for Embiid/PG. Maybe a poor mentality, but the idea of having a legitimate star piece locked up on a rookie contract with the new CBA and a big 3 is too intriguing to pass up.

We're not going to tank. Embiid will be back in 2 games and Maxey will return in a week or two. We'd have to completely suck at full capacity for us to pivot to a tank. Or at least 2 of our 3 stars would have to have long term injuries.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
Joking and tanking fantasies aside, this is a worst-case scenario. We're going to be fighting for home court in a play-in game all year and if we fall out of the playoffs, we won't be bad enough to keep the pick. Brutal.

Cool so now the only guy that can dribble is out.
Team hasn't had to be without him for long since he became pg. Joel can't do it without him.
They should consider going to get Fultz as I suggested because they need some pacing from that position.
