Tanking this year? After we just signed a max free agent, we have a player 2 years removed from an MVP, and 1 year removed from playing better than his MVP season (pre-injury), with another All-Star in Maxey, plus a potential ROY, too? Crazy talk.

We're bad right now for some reason, but there's still a chance we can contend this year. There's also every reason to think we miss the playoffs, because we look terrible and have a terrible record. You can't contend every year, but it certainly isn't time to tank now. Joel is almost certainly on the downswing of his career, even after he gets over whatever this injury or early-season-lethargy is. PG clearly is, too, at his age. McCain and Maxey still on the way up. Who knows - maybe this is the best year of overlap for them. You can't waste a year like that on purpose.

I'm not suggesting we waste it on purpose...Just accidentally.

I think Spike is dead wrong. The City is turning on Joel, we're exhausted with this story. The only excitement this team has is Maxey and now McCain. Tanking to get a core of under 25 elite players is much more valuable for ownership whose new stadium wouldn't be ready anyway until Joel is on the wrong side of 33. Tanking now gives this team the best "bridge" to a turnaround team that the City can be excited for.

Spike is right, though. Ownership is going to want to compete to maintain good will, at least until their stadium deal is finalized. However, if the trainers "decide" to red flag Embiid for the season, what's Josh gonna say? Also he's very busy with the Commanders for now anyway. Probably doesn't even know the NBA season has started.

They can, to restock; and they should, especially since they have built in excuses all over the place.

Yes, tanking despite what we tried to do. Math is math; no matter what you tried to do on paper, math is math and this team is perilously close to being in a hole where the math tells you they aren't digging out. If the team pulls the plug they can turn around and use the season to keep Joel in an aggressive medical rehab program to get him right for next season while targeting for a prospect that you hope turns into a league top talent that can replace Joel in case his body is just broken permanently.

So that why they gave him a 200 million extension 2 years out?

Strongly disagree. Marching this slop out night after night is KILLING fan support. There's reports of season ticket holders being unable to resell tickets or having to give them away as gifts or donations because NO ONE wants to see this team like this.

Know what has kept some fans from bailing? Jared McCain. I know I'm only tuning in to watch the rookie and see him grow. So are a lot of my Process diehard friends. The City members aren't stupid, they know Joel's on the wrong side of 30; they know his body is looking broken down. A new stadium deal is much more likely if the team lands Cooper Flagg or Ace, someone that fans will flock to see if the new shiny toy can revive the franchise.

They already saw that happen. Joel missed his first 2 seasons; but all it took was him showing the City he was "it" and the team surged in popularity and attendance.

So you decide to compound a mistake by doubling down and fighting for a 10th seed for a 1st rnd exit and missing out on getting a stud in a loaded draft while giving your only hope right now a full season to rehab?

Meanwhile Jalen Brunson looks like **** this year. How's Kat's defense btw? Has Bridges come up with a new way to shoot the rock?
Or maybe you'd like some more Rick Brunson scandal.

Seems like we sitting pretty at 8-6, with 3 wins in a row, albeit against the basement dwellers of the nba, but hey, we clapped the sixers too , KAT’s defense looked ok against the sixers, but his offense overwhelmed the sixers too. 8-) 8-)
There were several instances Embiid pouted in that game, as well as didn’t get out to rebound or even put a hand up.

All im Saying is, he does not look good.I’m not trying to get one over here, I legit want the sixers to be healthy so that other teams can tire out the cavs and Celtics first. But maybe he is better suited to come off the bench and ease his way back into the lineup.

You losers spent the last 5 years drooling over the chance to acquire him. smh

No real substance to any of the rumors, more substantial rumors were in KAT, whom we acquired
All I’m saying is, the dood looks washed, he cant move, cant jump, and doesnt play defense. I saw it with Ewing and injuries and am seeing it now, just dont understand why the sixers let him slide so much. Bench him or trade him, while the value remains somewhat high. Otherwise you risk losing him for a Seattle sonics type trade for Vin Baker

Tanking would be prudent, but the math is the math, and this team is nowhere close to being out of any playoff race. They are four games out of the five seed with 69 games left. They could make that up with 20 games left. Vegas has them at an 80% chance of making the playoffs. Their three stars have missed time. Even if Embiid can’t play, they likely have too much talent to finish in the bottom six without him. Without legitimate injuries, once they get healthy, they are prob too good to finish low enough to keep their pick.

Every one knows the NBA will NOT allow good teams who purposely tank to get Flagg unless you are so naive to think the Spurs were just lucky to win the Wemby draft with the 6th worst record that season. Those other lottery teams did not deserved Wemby but Pop after the whole Kawhi holding out drama. The Sixers who form the new Big 3 this offseason to purposely tank due to their own undoing with a tampering GM has zero chance of winning THIS lotto even with the worst record. It will most likely be the Nets after suffering thru the painful Kyrie/KD/employee #25 media circus under a new hands-off owner. Maybe Utah, but those are the only two teams most deserving for a chance to win their first ever championship with a generational talent like Flagg.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/nba-rescinds-76ers-2023-2024-second-round-picks-for-tampering-with-tucker-house

So making the playoffs this season even if we lose in the early rounds is our only viable option.

This one already has us down to 60%. 8 teams have started 2-11 and made playoffs. Neither of the 2 most recent teams to do it already announced 1 if not 2 of their 3 best players won't play back to backs. So there's literally no comparison for what this team would have to do to achieve a playoff spot. Let's also not pretend that any of us believe Joel and PG13 get healthy and stay healthy all year long.

Now we have the biggest marketing advantage lol
I know the Knicks have been bottom dwellers for years, but we built the team correctly, thru drafting correctly, building up those players, trading them when their value was at their peak, and savvy signings. The sixers have been mismanaged, but most of this falls on Morey, chasing big names, rather than a system and players to fill that system. It’s time for Embiid to get traded, or take a lesser role, the writing has been on the wall for a long time. I watched him play against the Knicks And felt like this guy was a shell of himself.

Btw, if we are perpetual bottom dwellers, then does that make the sixers perpetual processors? Should i call them the M4 chip? 8-)

Lol! The Sixers have won more playoff series since the process than the Knicks have since 2000! And that was a massive disappointment of a 7 year period for us too. You guys are perennial bums. You haven't "built" anything yet. Go crawl back into your hole.

Nick Nurse’s challenge seems to start from adapting his coaching style to a roster that’s heavily reliant on star players, as opposed to the more role player centric teams he has managed in the past. His offensive system, which relies on complex actions like weaves and dribble handoffs, worked effectively in Toronto, where players embraced their roles and relied on system based play.

However, in a team with top heavy players this system may not be that suitable. Many NBA stars prefer straightforward plays where they can create off the dribble or capitalize on mismatches. The intricacies of Nurse’s schemes might feel unnecessary to star players.

Teams like the Durant-Westbrook-led OKC Thunder often relied on a simplified offensive system, running primarily two-man games or isolations. Similarly, teams like the Cavs and Celtics today focus on 2 or 3-man actions. While these offenses are less sophisticated compared to Nurse’s complex schemes, they tend to be more efficient with fewer turnovers and a quicker breakdown of the defense. This results in more shots being taken earlier in the shot clock, rather than waiting until the end.

Ultimately, Nurse is renowned for his ability to adjust his strategies. And he may need to modify his system to better align with the level of talent on his roster.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
