It really depends on Embiid's health and how far PG has fallen off. We'd be adding another high quality price via draft and some growth from McCain. I think if we can get a top 3 pick , we should have the pieces already in place to avoid a full rebuild.

Rookies typically take 1-3 years before they can contribute. And teams usually take 2 years of playing together (w/o load management) in order to be cohesive.

At the very least that pick would be traded for someone like Markanen.

It really does come down to that. The Sixers NEED another piece to help if Joel and/or PG don't return to form. The only way to get that is via the draft.

We're still staring down no b2b's for one or both of them and given Joel's current issue it'd be malpractice to change on that stance just to vainly claw back for a bottom of the barrel playoff slot.

Logically, I can come up with two reasons: Nurse is pissed about Embiid being unmalleable and a giant diva. And so his goal is to break him in anyway he can. This process of course is going to ruin a season.

Or two: Morey knew they still didn't have enough even after remaking the entire roster. So the entire team is in stealth tank mode.

If it's not A or B then please just fire Nurse now.

If you are a Chef and the restaurant bought expired ingredients to cook with; the Chef knows nothing he tries is going to make rotten eggs or spoiled meat taste good. So why bother if no matter what you do the meal is going to be bad?

If you really break it down, what we need is for Embiid to become more of a super role player—someone who excels in a specific role rather than carrying the entire load. Then, we need the new guy to step in and take over Embiid’s current role as the centerpiece of the team.

I initially thought Maxey could be that guy, and I believed Paul George could come in and help Maxey take that leap.

You dont miss much or its easier to fill the gap if the player not playing is just a super role player.

For me the EASIEST BUT MOST IMPROBABLE path is to trade either Maxey and Embiid for an alpha. If not, we’ll just here every year hoping for a healthy Embiid or a team looking like full of role players when Embiid is not 100%
