Re: The Playoffs Thread
The Bucks would be a bad matchup even with a healthy Embiid, i dont think we stand much of a chance right now (assuming we beat the Hawks). This injured Nets team would have been much easier to handle.

Not sure about that...we struggle when we have to defend quick foul-baiting guards but none of the Bucks stars are that. I think Simmons and Thybulle might prove their worth against the Bucks. But let's first get past Atlanta.

Bucks theoretically are the much better match up. Asinine to think otherwise. We do not have the defenders to match up with the Nets.
Curry/Green/Korkmaz/Maxey on Harden and Irving would be a nightmare. They would get abused regularly.

LOL at chicken littles afraid of the Bucks. This is exactly what we wanted with them taking out the Nets for us.
Barring further injury, the Sixers will beat the Bucks and go to the Finals.

How do you explain the three big losses to them in the regular season?

It's the regular season. Those games meant nothing.

Right, but at this point it looks like you’re looking at two teams that are going opposite directions, one that’s performing worse than it did in the regular season, and another that’s performing better. Now consider the three regular season losses in light of that.

The Bucks aren't "performing better". They got lucky that their opponent was crippled by injuries.
They are a team to be respected, but certainly NOT feared.

Agreed. They’re a very good team but they’re not a juggernaut. I expect the Hawks or 76ers to be very competitive with the Bucks.

Our losses are self inflected.
We have the formula to beat the Hawks.
We just have to pace ourselves and continue what we are doing at a high level for 48 mins.

I wouldn't exactly call any of the teams left small markets. Unless you mean to say teams that don't win many chips and aren't as popular as the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, Bulls, etc.
Ok....I'm sorry, I think you know what I meant here. Jesus! Let me explain since everything has to be in
absolutes with people.
Clippers are the "other " LA team
Milwaukee, blue collar freezing cold city that makes beer
Phoenix is in a desert
We're not exactly a mecca either.
Atlanta is a little guy too with a great fanbase.
That's all I meant. I'm not going to break down financial numbers, or how many universities they have, or if any of these places are awesome vacation spots. But in terms of the league and popularity. They're small market in my opinion.
These are all NEW teams ALL deserving of winning a ring.
Thank God for once it's not Lebron, or Steph, or Durant. I love those guys. They're great, but it's a nice break.

Re: The Playoffs Thread
Market size is a myth. It’s more applicable back then when there is no internet.
What matters is lifestyle.
Top players wants to live on cities with top tier lifestyle (sorry i dont know whats the perfect term but i think u guys know what i mean).
Spending $30M in milwaukee does not feel like spending $30M in Los Angeles, New York or Miami.
So these top tier FA destination teams usually just steal franchise players from teams like ours. To a certain extent, Mia stole Jimmy from us.
Now regarding the playoffs. I just dont want to win a championship as an “asterisk” like how the Lakers did last season.
This one feels more like 2018-2019 season where ECF was the biggest obstacle for the Raptors while Finals was a cakewalk because of player availability.

True, if we ever lose the series, game 4 and 5 are completely on ourselves, not on the Hawks being better

I think we’re kind of playing in a no man’s land era.
Who’s leading the league right now?
Lebron is on a decline.
Warriors is a mess.
Nobody respects jokic or giannis.
Doncic is overhyped.
Embiid is made of glass.
Zion is not that good.
The only guy left is KD and the stars he plays with in Brooklyn. But seems like the basketball gods didnt want them to prosper.

Looking back.
I think Embiid’s performance in G6 is similar to G4.
And in G4, we’re like a kid being left in the middle of nowhere by his parents. In G6, we know how to find our way home the next time around.
..well I hope im right

The series absolutely should be over, but now we're down to one game, and all it takes is a hot shooting night to even out that advantage we have over them.
I'm making myself sick right now with memories of that game 5 against Boston in '02 when they couldn't miss.

Re: The Playoffs Thread
If we don't end up making wholesale changes to the roster, Reggie Jackson could be a really interesting MLE target for this team. That guy had made crazy leaps as a shooter. He's a reasonably good PG defender when he's locked in, and he can still get in the lane off the dribble. Feels like a pretty good budget version of the dribbly-passy-shooty guy this team is lacking, wouldn't cost us anything in assets, and wouldn't get in the way of Maxey long-term..
He's played on a minimum deal in LA and they're over the tax, so I'm pretty sure they are limited in what they can offer to keep him with the rights they have on him.

Definitely in a transition mode as the elder gods decline. That said, the conversation about these new guys will change as they start to win, and we'll look back and forget that they weren't always viewed as dominant stars. The NBA is too good at marketing their stars for it to go any other way.
