The Bulls manage to top the Sixers in idiocy every year. They have players who they aren't winning with and will be gone and decide to not trade them every year.

Getting volume shooting which was one of the necessities of the team.

I guess we're gonna bet against ourselves for Lowry and Dinwiddie with cap we cleaned

The Springer deal, however, is bad IMO.

We got the 3 picks of the Hield trade back tho

He's an expiring. If Embiid is even able to come back this season, we're going to get slaughtered by the Celtics or Bucks in the event we play them. So either commit to winning this year, or tank the rest of the year.

The capspace plan has worked once in NBA history.

Even for "the Decision" it failed for 4 other teams
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Tank where? we're 9 games from 10, we would have to lost like 70% of the next games to get out of the play in. With how bad the bottom of the east is, that's almost impossible.

Taking a step back for a second...

Trade Deadline Moves:

PHI Out: Morris, Furk, Bev, House, 3 Second Round Picks
Response: Losing Bev in locker rooms sucks, but the rest of the guys are terrible.

PHI In: Hield, Cam Payne, 2 Second Round Picks
Response: Hield becomes our best 3pt shooter, and we get 2/3 2nd round picks back.

Seperately, Embiid is the only player on the roster with a guaranteed contract for 2024-2025. Regardless of what happens this year, we have ultimate flexibility to overhaul team. That includes resigning Maxey and trading our first rounders from the Harden Trade.

I'm fine with what they did at the deadline. I said before if anything I wanted them to sell. Them not selling out to try to win in a lost season is smart. This season is over for all intents and purposes. Now hopefully he actually has something he thinks he can accomplish in free agency and isn't just clearing this cap space just to "see what I can maybe do with it."

But these moves make the Hield move all the more confusing.

Springer is a salary dump. Nurse dont believe in his offense ( last night he said that the defense is good but if he cant score from 3...) but this is very disapointing. I dont think he will play very much in Boston this year.

This is all bs. He's not getting much in fa. Teams don't trade stars just for picks. You need talent and Tobias ain't it.

I haven't seen a complete breakdown of incoming/outgoing, but the team trading the 2nd and their expected draft position certainly matters. Toronto 2nd will be top 40.

Hield was Toronto 2nd 2024, Portland 2nd 2029, Clippers 2nd 2029

I think I saw Bucks 2nd is their own 2027.

I think they want sign/trade optionality next year. Or they like his long term fit with Embiid.

There are no good free agents and we have no contracts to trade. How the **** are they going to build the roster? The capspace thing only works if you can get a big FA without spending assets, and then trade existing assets to get another player. We can't do that now.

Yeah this was an epic fail all because they want Tobias.

It wasn't like the Sixers passed on some superstar for this cap room. We're talking about would you rather trade a first rounder for Malcolm Brogdon/Demar Derozan/Kelly Olynyk or would you rather keep your firsts and have the cap room? To me the latter is an absolute no brainer.
