It's Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram or bust.I don't like Dunn. He's all physically skilled not a high Iq guy.

MLK lol my man you definitely have a very depressed outlook based on your posting lately.
I think you need to understand that if we were to have bad luck again in the 2016 Draft and Hinkie just continued to throw his hands up for another tanking season then that would be a very bad thing for this franchise.
to a certain extent, I think Hinkie did need a wakeup call and a reality check.
I mean i'm a big Hinkie supporter, but at a certain point you just have to admit it isn't working even if it's out of your control.
I truly dont believe Jerry Colangelo came here to ruin everything and put us back on some awful treadmill plan.
i really believe it's a little more levelheaded and logical than that. and frankly, based on what he's done so far, I like his ideas.
Elton Brand and Ish Smith for nothing and Mike D are only going to help, without making any crippling asset depleting moves.

Re: 2016 NBA Draft/College Basketball Thread
lol...I hope no one takes my emo posts fully serious.
also being a debbie downer has kinda worked out for us via me always being wrong.
that being said, I simply think if we do miss out on Basketball Lords..again, then things will change to a more Houston-esque method of treading water in a sense waiting for a star to get disgruntled. Not all that bad and better than being a tire fire for sure.. This was probably always the plan tho...since most of Hinkie's "assets" start to actually be tangible this offseason anyway.

The tank will be successful if:
- Embiid is a medical "go" with no setbacks
and / or
- Simmons declares and we win the draft lotto
Otherwise, welcome to Orlandoville. We'll have a pocket full of quarters with no dollars. Look forward to 36-43 win seasons.

Me too.
I agree with Kobble's post right above this one largely in the sense that we are set if Embiid can stay healthy or we get Simmons. Beyond that we are certainly at risk of a treadmill future, but I think that Okafor can potentially be a star in his own right.
Put it this way. I am more convinced of Okafor's ability to be a star than I am of his ability to play with Embiid, and I am pretty optimistic about that too.

Kobble, that's the second time you referenced "if" Simmons declares. There is no if. He's the #1 pick. Why go back? Nothing to gain. A lot to lose if he gets hurt.

I'm throwing qualifiers at everything these days. Knowing our luck, we'd win the draft lottery in the year a superstar stays in school.

Haven't been following this thread super close, but are peeps down on Ingram? He strikes me as a hell of a consolation price if we miss Simmons and a perfect fit. Baby KD, I'm all in!

Some people were down on him early in the year, but recently I think it is pretty much agreed that he is the number 2 pick.

Ingram would be a nice consolation prize but make no mistake he's nowhere near as good as Simmons. Settling for Ingram is the equivalence of getting all 5 numbers right for the powerball but missing out on the last number and only winning a few thousand dollars.

Yeah but seeing all this Simmons or bust stuff, makes me think people would be pretty crushed to get Ingram, I'd be elated!

Re: 2016 NBA Draft/College Basketball Thread
I all in on neither because pessimism
but no real talk, I just want it to be lottery time in which I won't jump off a bridge if we fell to 4 because of reasons. Simmons is THE prize. Ingram helps us a lot. Dunn too...but man oh man...it drops off hard after that

I'm not there yet with Ingram. His recent surge is nice to see, but he's still not super impressive overall. Maybe he can win me over as the season goes on.

I really hate Jamal Murray's game. I have since the all star games this summer.
He IS the Evan Turner you're looking for.

Simmons is basically a PG. He's Magic. If you get him with some wings that can shoot and the bigs we already have. Wow.

Refs shouldn't be allowed to get Simmons in foul trouble. He is the whole idea tonight.
