Okafor trade talk: Will he be traded by the deadline?

If Colangelo is still posturing in "we are not just going to give him away" mode then it sure seems they really don't have a deal and somehow BC got played here in to thinking that he maybe had a deal causing them to hold him out of the game Friday and not even get on the flight today. It certainly looks like he's hoping that with this weird pseudo deadline someone will up their offer.

The longer this drags out without any report of a trade the worse it looks. I bet he insists Chicago gives him MCW so he can try to spin it to WIP that he got the ROY that Hinkie dealt away back.

There's no chance that if BC secretly had a Noel trade in his back pocket that he would be continuing to play Noel out of fear for injury (which is exactly the reason why he's sitting Okafor right now). Not saying there's no chance that Noel will get traded, but it would be highly unlikely. Nobody takes chances like that just to fake out other teams or the media. Okafor is getting traded (probably), Noel isn't going anywhere. I think you're going to have to get used to the idea that Colangelo fully expects to re-sign Noel as a RFA this offseason.

I don't think Okafor was ever close to being dealt. I was thinking about why Okafor would be shaking hands with personnel if he wasn't officially dealt. It just seems so odd.

Has me believe Colangelo put on all this as a big production to get teams to think a deal is almost done. He was probably negotiating that day and told another GM "If you don't up your offer, I'm telling you, I'm trading him to Chicago, they have a nice package!" and the GM said "Sorry, not gonna up the offer now" so he told Brett Brown to sit Okafor to make it look like a deal is close and to shake hands with teammates at the game so it would leak to Twitter hoping he'd get a call-back and the GM would say "Ok, fine, here's a better deal."

and none of it was actually true, and the other GM called his bluff, and now he's sitting there twiddling his thumbs.

My natural inclination is to say 'relax, we got 10 days' but then I remember the club we all support.....'yeah, most of these conspiracies are probably true'.

Either way, whatever happens with Okafor is largely inconsequential. The dude sucks....our return will suck. Sunk cost, send the kid to a new home and move on.

The real pitchfork stuff should belong over at the Simmons thread. That dude matters and something is definitely on the nose.

What is so stupid about all this is it seems we are the ones initiating this and actively seeking and calling teams when we have two players we need to make a decision on by the deadline what to do with in Noel and Ersan. Okafor we can move anytime.

While I agree he should be moved if we keep Ersan and let him walk I'm going to be pissed. If we keep Noel at the deadline and let him walk as a RFA. I'll be equally pissed. Those are the two players we should be shopping. We also should be shopping Henderson and Sergio to see if a contender maybe interested. Instead we are focused on the guy who can just as easily be moved in the offseason as now. Who has two years on his rookie deal. I don't get it.

That would be absolutely pathetic if it comes to pass. If Philly takes the awful contract of Asik, they better not take a pick with protections unless they are something like 1-3.

That is awful. Like I said earlier it would have to be at least two very very lightly first rounders and a pick swap for me to do this. For a protected first f that. Have you seen his contract?
