Thiero has the wingspan to and height to play the 4. He rebounds very well too. Oh well.

Appreciate the folks making a passionate case for Broome. Y’all are giving me the ammo I need to get excited about the pick.

Re: Draft Day Shenanigans (IV)
We'll see, guys. The Auburn offense ran through him in the post, thus his high USG%, but he's going to have to expand his offensive skill in a big way to ever even be put in that situation at this level. He'll compete hard, rebound and guard the rim, but beyond that I'm not so sure.

Along with that, he’s posting an outstanding 23.5 AST% and a microscopic 7.3 TOV%.
I bet he gets better with less usage, if that makes sense. He’ll have more energy to focus on being a role player, 15-20 MPG.

If he starts spacing the floor like Horford then I'll change my mind.
While he's figuring that part of his game out, he'll be making our shooters better with his elite positional playmaking.
All these posts touting him as "one of the best players in college basketball last year" - if he's that productive and has 'elite positional playmaking' ability, why on earth is he a 2nd round pick?
For the same reasons that Paul Millsap, Draymond Green, and Carlos Boozer were second round picks. Broome is also what? 23? For some reason that scares teams away. Obviously it's a concern if you're drafting in the lottery, but not so much in the 2nd round. People get too caught up with measurables. Again, Jericho Sims, Jaxon Hayes...Athletic marvels that couldn't play their way through a YMCA pick up game. Broome is baller through and through. He's going to surprise us. You said it yourself, he's tougher than a two dollar steak as is Edgecombe. We just drafted two gritty junkyard dog ball players here that'll play with broken bones if you ask them to. Talk about a culture change! I love these picks, we got two crawlers coming to Philly. Bro.g back the bully ball, change the soft ass identity of this team. It's gotten us nowhere.
For all the Rasheer Fleming love (I liked him too) that guy looks lost at times in reactionary situations on the floor. Broome is a nice consolation prize in my opinion.

We got two guys that are defenders, first and foremost, and also rebound and pass well. We really improved our roster with these stat stuffing young pieces. This is how you get better.

Re: Draft Day Shenanigans (IV)
I appreciate that we’ll have a team full of young guys that work hard & play hard. It will be a refreshing change from the last 5 years of Sixers basketball. Maybe it will even shame Paul George into trying a little.

Yes! Thank you! It's also a shift in our identity. This team has had no grit to it since Jimmy left and it's time to change that. Edgecombe and Broome are a great start at doing so.

Damn...Jamir Watkins went to the Wizards. He was number one on my UDFA list. Chaz Lanier to the Pistons is nice. He'll do well there.

The NBA allowing more physicality in the game is a potential tailwind for Broome’s development too.

I think Broome will be our goon, which is fine. They still have a place in the league.

Having a fetish for wings in 2025 is like having a fetish for bigs in 2013.
It’s outdated thinking that ignores where the game is headed.
High skilled bigs that allows you to play double bigs
2-3 and maybe even 4 guard units.

I'm not gonna go that far; but this feels like a big hedge against Joel not playing next year or having a repeat of playing a week and then out 3 weeks. Better to get subpar play from a rookie at $2mil than subpar play from a washed vet at $5mil.
