I love the Greek Freak but I also hate the Greek Freak because he's so good and is going to be a horn in our side and the media love said him. Ben Simmons better ball out next year and prove me right. I want Simmons to show he's better and be the heir apparent to LeBron not Giannis.

I have no problem admitting that Giannis is better than Simmons. Doesn't mean he is always going to be better though, and even if he DOES stay better, Simmons complements Embiid better, and Embiid is better than both of them.

Oh no doubt Giannis is better than Simmons right now. I just hope it doesn't stay that way.

Giannis will probably be the best player on either of our teams, but our core will be way better than theirs. With Embiid, Simmons and our pick(s) in the Top 10 this year, we can potentially field three A players. The Bucks have Giannis and a bunch of role players / fringe starters.

If Embiid plays a full season (70+ games) next year at 32 mpg he is going to average 25-28 points 10-12 rebounds, and will be one of the best and most consequential defenders in the league.
I think that he is already better than Giannis, and it is just health and rhythm that is needed for it to become the consensus in the league.

Re: Around the league 2016-2017
It is a little odd how similar the Bucks and Sixers are. Each team has a ball handling power forward, a no defense back to the basket big off the bench, a top pick in the 2014 draft who can't stay healthy, and a center who defends the rim and shoots 3s.

I think Embiid is better than Giannis right now.

Seeing a cooked Manu hurts. He has to retire after this year.

It's nice to see Andrew Harrison and Wayne Seldon carving out roles in the NBA on a good team like Memphis. They were good prospects that a lot of people dismissed a bit early.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Re: Around the league 2016-2017
Watched the Gsw-blazers replay. ET was impressive with his playmaking until he for me caused them the game with his costly TOs. He's scoring is weird in that 50% of his FGAs are 3s. He's having trouble finishing around the rim with no FGMs at 0-3ft.
McCaw is very talented. Great find by the warriors. He plays more than his length, can space the floor and play both ways. He had crucial 0 rebs for the Warriors down the stretch.
McGee is really big for the warriors. just tough to defend the warriors when your big needs to step out and Warriors would just then just alley-oop it to McGee in the paint.
the McGee-West-Klay-Mccaw-curry line was was huge for them to close the 3rd quarter. Sucked the life out of the Blazers.

But that is nothing new people have been saying that since the start of the season.

That is the problem with Giannis running the point. He CAN do it. he is skilled enough, but his BBIQ is not at a PG level. When to slow the game down, run set plays, call for the ball and reset. That team plays way too out of control and rushed ball a lot of the time when they would be better served taking a step back.

Re: Around the league 2016-2017
Can we all just take a moment to recognize what Lebron is doing?
That late 3 and steal was Bulls-Jazz 98'esque, and Lebron just won his 21st straight first round game.
He is such a polarizing figure that lots of fans hate, but I think he is legitimately the second best non center of all time already, and it isn't out of the question that he could catch Jordan.
I mean, if he wins this year and next year then it will be debatable at least for eternity.
When we are all old men people will be talking about what he is in the middle of right now, and all basketball fans should pay close attention.

I feel like people who hate LeBron will always find a reason to put him behind MJ
He will have to at least win 6 championships to have a realistic discussion in their minds

Re: Around the league 2016-2017
I don't think accomplishments have anything to go with who is best. Otherwise, Bull Russell would be the best NBA player ever. To me it's 100% eye test, nothing else. MJ amazed me most, therefore he's my best. Until someone comes along who amazes me more, he remains best. Don't care if Lebron wins 8 titles and don't care if Steph Curry wins 15.
One can only "catch" someone if you count accomplishments. I don't. I think most people feel this way, they just don't realize it. People consider MJ the best because he was freaking amazing, the 6 titles have little to do with it, although they are used for argumentative purposes.

Yea I think it's two separate conversations. I think a lot of time when people say best player, they mean best resume at the end of their career. So stats, rings ect are what counts. If best player = most talented then it's a different conversation. Under either criteria MJ is the best still imo.

Accomplishments matter for the top players, but it isn't the only factor. Russell played with so many other hall of famers back when there were so few teams that it is really hard to compare.
The Celtics were like the Alabama college football team playing in the big east. They would have won at least some of those titles without Russell.
The point I'm really making is that Lebron is the best player in this era by a long shot, and when he is all said and done he may have a good case for the best career ever.
Part of the eye test is seeing a player accomplish ridiculously difficult things. What he did today was Jordan'esque, and getting to perhaps his seventh straight finals should make people really stop and think for a second.
Curry, Durant, Westbrook, and Harden are all great basketball players, but Lebron is just on another level.

You are right on many levels.
I think the LBJ story is more compelling than any Jordan story.
At one time LBJ was one of the most hated players in the league. He left Cleveland on his own terms, went to miami, lost in the finals, and the fans all over the NBA loved it. By the time he left Miami people besides Miami fans were staring to warm to him. Returned home lost in the finals and then came back the following year and in historic fashion brought a championship to Cleveland. That is amazing.
I would like to see what kind of story would have been painted of Jordan if he played in the social media era.
