I don’t get it.
Same world where the Nets got James Harden with the best outgoing player being Caris Levert.

the plan is to get as good as quickly as possible....I fully believe we could have been a borderline playoff team last year by adding young veterans....using or draft picks and cap space.....can I specifically tell you who? no.

As Morey told us at the beginning of the season, the roster you start with doesn't necessarily have to be the roster you finish with. If he doesn't find maximum value for Simmons, he's not going to trade him.
In fact you could probably name more trades where a superstar got traded for a player worse than a Ben than better.BullyKing wrote:Iverson Armband wrote:In what world, are NBA teams going to trade us their best player for Ben Simmons.

But the most important thing is having a sustainable and hard working team, Ben Simmons being in your team sends the message to the younger players that it's not important to work hard, he is a bad example for our locker room.

I'm sure Maxey isn't affected by bens work ethic . They aren't kids they are pros.

A world where an NBA team's best player demands a trade out and puts us on their list, and the ownership of that teams demands that they get an established all-NBA type in return.
It's not that fantastic.

It depends on whether the player is intrinsically or extrinsically motivated.
An intrinsically motivated player won't be affected by Simmons's poor work ethic, no, but an extrinsically motivated one can observe that Simmons was paid big by the team without developing in important ways, and he may likewise strive to be paid by the team without similarly developing. If the team jettisons Simmons, however, then it's a shot across the bow for other players regarding that issue.

Until one of those guys actually does that, discussing it as an option is less than a waste of time.
It has been the norm in the NBA for a better part of a decade.Iverson Armband wrote:Stanford wrote:Iverson Armband wrote:In what world, are NBA teams going to trade us their best player for Ben Simmons.

I hate to break this to you, but it's all a waste of time.

What was the last trade of a star for a star and they were both still good?Iverson Armband wrote:eyeatoma wrote:It has been the norm in the NBA for a better part of a decade.Iverson Armband wrote:

Not really.
Banking on it to happen every year is a stretch.

Derozen for Kawhi was a star for a star.
Mik317 wrote:stars tend to be traded for tons of stuff...but very rarely a 1-1 level player.
Ben sucks in the playoffs...but he is still a floor riser who is also 24 years old. That has value.
that being said...I don't think any stars are on the market. Dame's hissy fit was simply to distance himself from twitter morons being mad at him for Chauncey. He wanted him or Kidd as a coach and probably will stick it out one more season if only for his sake. Until he actually asks for a trade...its nothing more than typical do better posturing or ESPN desperately wanting him to either help Bron or truly bring the Knicks back.
AS stated IMO the best hypothetical Ben trades are ones for young prospects in search of the next Harden....but those are a tough sell to Embiid and unfortunately Doc....so its not happening. Anything else feels like lateral moves made for the sake of making moves....which could help...i guess but aren't that exciting.
I feel like we are going to basically run it back and focus mainly on fixing the bench and hoping a full offseason adds a new wrinkle to things. Like we will probably add a PG but like just an okay one and not the gamechanger people lust for.
idk
