Having him sit an entire year and throwing him to the wolves next year and expecting him to take on the rigors of a full season with that increased body weight is asking for trouble. Let him get a shortened season, dip his toes in the water, and let his body begin to adjust to the NBA.
I was fine giving him a few extra months off. But it is pitiful if he doesn't play and he hasn't had any setbacks and there is no health benefit to him not playing this year.

Being too broad. I'm not going to defend Colangelo as not being incompetent or incompetent in facets of the job. I don't think that we've seen enough yet to make that judgement, of him here at least, but even if he is he can still understand the benefits of tanking, especially given this draft and our needs.
This seems like tanking to me.

NY and Philly has such an amazing, intense rival. I hope you guys get healthy and the Knicks get a new owner then fight it out for years to come

the plan is to get as good as quickly as possible....I fully believe we could have been a borderline playoff team last year by adding young veterans....using or draft picks and cap space.....can I specifically tell you who? no.
Nothing taken, I'm not here for anything but hoping for the best, I appreciate an intense rival. But come on man LOL have you hard of James Dolan? Single handily the worst thing that's happened in NY sports history.BullyKing wrote:Kristaps6_NYK wrote:I feel sorry for you guys between Embiid and Simmons (although Ben should be fine, I'm worried about Joel) It sucks that both our franchises are way behind with horrible luck. Not trying to start a fight but what exactly is the bad luck that has forsaken the Knicks?

Absolutely true, god only know how long us Knick fans are stuck with this crap. You guys on the other hand just need your guys healthy and Philly becomes an attractive place to build around Joel. Best of luck!BullyKing wrote:Kristaps6_NYK wrote:Nothing taken, I'm not here for anything but hoping for the best, I appreciate an intense rival. But come on man LOL have you hard of James Dolan? Oh I got you. Yeah, that was sort of my point - the Knicks failures are born from incompetence and not bad luck. Knicks fans, however, have suffered from the bad luck that of the all the rich playboys that could have bought one of the most storied franchises, you got stuck with that moron.
Simmons25 wrote:Here is why I believe the Sixers won't play him. There is no time left and we are on the road for 1.5 weeks during the prime time for him to come back. No home games for him to make his debut.
The All-Star break ends Feb 24. Brett Brown said he needs AT LEAST 5 sessions of 5 on 5 basketball. Lets assume he does 7 scrimmages. They won't be day after day... so really you are looking at 2 weeks MINIMUM of 5 on 5 before is able to play... absolute best case scenario.
So where does that take us. 11th March. Take a look at our schedule. We are on the road for 9 days straight from March 7th until March 16.
Does anyone think Simmons is going to his debut anywhere other than in Philadelphia? Of course not. That basically leaves us with 2 opportunities:
* March 6 againt the Bucks at home (Only 10 days after the all-star break.... and remember Brett says he needs "More than 5 x 5 on 5 scrimmages before he can play". So no way in hell.
* March 17 against Mavs at home.
March 17 is more likely but is it worth it? Only 15 games remaining in the year at that stage and 2 back to backs... means he will get in 13 games maximum.
I reckon they've looked at the schedule and gone too tight and not enough benefit to get out of bringing him back in for only those 13 games. We will see though.
