Re: 2021-2022 College Basketball / NBA Draft
Man, I really just love Collin Gillespie.
Not the most talented player, but definitely has a great combination of skill and championship DNA. I feel like he's the kind of guy if you just keep around for multiple years and let him take roots, he's going to make winning plays for you.

I think that belongs in the Fantasy Trade thread.

Perfect 2nd round pick, a kid who can come off the bench or spot start and probably produce from day one. Do you get a bit of Payton Pritchard vibe from him?

Yeah, I could see that.
The distinction that sticks out is that I think Gillespie plays with more control and poise. Pritchard a little more capable of providing spurts of scoring.
If I wanted a deep bench guy on my Finals roster, I'd want Gillespie, though. That guy is just intangibly elite.

Also, hot take, but I want Brad Davison also.
Not going to get drafted, but I would definitely bring him into the organization in some capacity. Summer League and G-League. He's got big game moxie and is a major shotmaker. And at 6'4" and over 200 pounds, he has sneaky good size.
Possible Jodie Meeks comp.

I think it's wild that it's remotely possible with Branham's projected draft range.
This must have been what it felt like when dudes new ahead of time that Devin Booker was one of the best players in his draft and saw that he was being mocked late lotto.

I never liked Gillespie as a NBA prospect but I think he will be a good player in Puerto Rico or Guatemala

I mean, most of the guys at roster spots 10-15 are trash that just stick around the league for no reason. Might as well fill those spots with skilled winners.

Count me in on Gillespie. FT% and 3FG% suggests the shot will translate well.

I don’t really care about trading the first if we can get back in with a second. A guy like Justin Lewis feels like he’s just as likely to pan out as most of the options at 23.

Gillespie will all of a sudden emerge as a key contributor in the next 2-3 years on a playoff team, making 3's and heads up plays off the bench, and everyone in the league will be saying "damn, why didn't we take him with our 2nd?". Book it.

Yuck at Kendall Brown. He's basically a taller Zhaire Smith.

That's why Brand is probably pushing for him.

From the article Stormi posted in the Jaden Springer thread. Kendall Brown was a strong finisher at the rim, top 10 recruit in his class, hits decent marks in the advanced analytics section. I definitely felt like he fits the mold of what Morey wants from a prospect in the SF/PF position, but felt he was out of reach. If he falls at all, I fully expect us to take him.
Makes sense. Exactly the type of prospect I’d expect us to be interested in: top ten recruit, very good advanced analytics, young, upside as a shooter. Don’t love him as a prospect, but I understand the allure.

Classic Morey pick. He's drafting a random freshman none of us expect.
It'll be Brown or like Blake Wesley.

Re: 2021-2022 College Basketball / NBA Draft
I don't see any shooting upside in Kendall Brown. His shot no volume from three and his free throw shooting was in the 60 percent range.
And he doesn't even have good steal or block numbers. Teammates Sochan and Mayer were on another planet than him defensively.
The only thing he brings to the table is true shooting percentage. Which, like Zhaire Smith, is because he doesn't do anything on offense outside of garbage buckets or spoonfed fgs.

HS FT% looks like 79%. I can’t verify it elsewhere, but if that’s to be believed, he seems like a better shooter than he was last year.

Any thoughts on Gabrielle Procida out of Italy?
Not going to pretend to know a lot about him, but appears to have 1 hell of a skillet. 6’7 with a smooth 3 point shot, near elite athleticism and defensive upside. Just turned 20 this month and played past 2 years in Italy’s top league

Probably too much risk for us to take him at 23, but I can definitely see this kid ending up as a sleeper in this class.
