He’s more than fine as 4th/5th big. For all he doesn’t bring defensively I think he makes up for in rebounding, passing, and shooting.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

This was really the only scenario I could see playing out.

Per 36: 6 rbs
Rbd %: 9-10%
Def Rbd %: 13-15%
He was 5th on the Heat last year in avg rebounds despite playing 6-7 fewer minutes than Jimmy and Hero who were 1 rb/gm better.
The Heat ranked in the top 10 in defensive rebound percentage. Bam had 10 a night and the rest of the starters all did their parts getting 5 or so boards a night. We're definitely going to get similar returns out of our guys.
The Celtics, a top rebounding percentage team - their best rebounder was Tatum at 8 a night.
By rebounding percentage, Martin's comparable to Jaylen Brown, Holiday, Butler.
PG: is also a 15% defensive rb%. Tatum by comparison was 18% last year.
Where we died were the 50/50 rebounds. Mostly b/c Joel was out of position having contested and the rest of our guys just lacked the grit & size (Maxey/Melton or Maxey/Lowry), or in Tobias' case the quick twitch instinct to process "get da ball." PG less so, but Martin is going to scrap for those 50/50 boards. That's where if we get any kind of improvement; we'll be fine on the boards.
Tobias had a slightly better rebounding percentage than the guys we signed, and we got killed with him out there. I hope he was just mentally checked out. If we lacked size and grit last year, we are still going to lack size. I think Drummond over Reed would be significant though. We got destroyed on the boards when Embiid was out. I worry our grit isn’t going to be enough to make up for a size disadvantage.
We got killed b/c despite having that rebound % we all saw how many times he just ball watched or didn't process fast enough that he was the one that was supposed to get that ball. I think one of Oubre/PG/Martin are going to gobble those missed rebounds up like Pac-Man at an all you can eat pellet buffet.

Cov and the Homie. Get it done, Morey,
Oh, and you need a backup PG, too. I assume this will be Lowry.

Based on the reaction of them saying "I get it!" I'm going to put the odds on 17 for PG17 or 33 PG33 rhymes as the favorites. 31, 13 backwards coming in 3rd.

No, no he wouldn't. Enough with this sh**! You cannot play 4 on 5 on offense... PERIOD.

Let me be clear, I don't want Simmons back. But I do think his skills would help us.

If I had to guess #1 for George
Martin might get 16 but if not I can see him in like 14 or 17
Taking Harden's money then his number dang
Lol yeah. PG-17 sounds pretty good too tho

So one is a retired number, and one will be a retired number in another 25 years when RCIV is in the hall of fame.
"Retiring" numbers is a scam and a joke. You can honor players by putting their jersey in the rafters, but that doesn't mean the number should never be used again. Besides, one day in the distant future they'll have to get rid of this stupidity otherwise enough numbers won't be available.
For example in international soccer Brazil reuses key numbers like 10 all the time, and it is a great honor to be given that number. Much better system.

before we trip over ourselves whining about small ball...by replacing Melton, Harris and Reed with Martin, George and Drummond the team on the court will be taller and longer

No his skills wouldn't. Simmons can't be played on the offensive side of the court. No one is going to cover him, that allows full-time double teams of Joel and a free safety to roam the passing lanes and/or clog Maxey's driving lanes. For his passing to matter he needs the ball in his hands and taking it out of the hands of Joel, Maxey, PG is already win for the opponent.
Simmons would destroy this squad.

Honestly, who cares. Beasley is a loser personality-wise and he low-key sucks.
