I'm a bit surprised the Lakers didn't get someone good for some crappy assets worth next to nothing at the deadline.

That's the real shocker of the deadline, but I guess Silver already provided his gift for this year.

The Lakers will sign a couple name buyout guys. That way they get players and don't give up any assets, you see.

Why?. Screw them. They didn't help us get over the hump.

Partly because DLo started to play better and partly because they want another star and the market during the deadline were mostly non-stars.

I’d like to see how the Knicks would play at full strength. They definitely have a lot of depth, but unless the league suddenly changes the rules to make games longer, I don't think they can fully utilize the talent on their team. Can they play OG-Bogdanovic-Randle at the 2-3-4 positions simultaneously? Maybe Divicenzo at the 2, then have OG-Bogdanovic-Randle at the 3-4-5 positions?

They're definitely an interesting team to watch because of their depth.

Random question, the wire tap says this:
"The Lakers have identified Donovan Mitchell, Trae Young and Kyrie Irving as potential targets in the offseason, sources tell Jovan Buha of The Athletic."
Just the other day, it said Philly was targeting George. How are these types of statements not immediately flagged as tampering? I guess it's the magical 'sources' word that could mean the GM or my cat... but i feel like this is a bad look for the league the day after the trade line.

Knicks went from mediocrity to a serious threat in two seasons. Brunson was sent to NY by the basketball gods and the Knicks have made the best of a elite undersized shot creating guard.

I see the Lakers are adding Dinwiddie for free. They'll probably pull another guy or two out of their ***** as well.

How foolish was Dallas to let that guy go?

Conference Finals with him, play in without. Luka on both teams.

Which makes me feel like there's a chance all these misses are adding up in the Doncic camp. Porzingis a failed experiment. Lost Brunson for nothing. Grant Williams was a flop. Can't escape mediocrity with Kyrie.

On top of that, the rest of the team is full of mid role players. They haven't been able to surround him with a truly solid team for 6 years. If they are a play in team and a first round out or less, then I could see him asking to be traded.

It seemed obvious even at the time, and when you hear that Brunson wanted to stay and would have come at a discount it makes it even more egregious. Watching them in those playoffs, the only thought was they were 1-2 players away from true contention.

Morey is clearly waiting for one of these guys to ask out.

I do find it a little concerning that Victor hasn’t generated more wins for San Antonio this year. I haven’t watched enough games to understand the cause but I’d expect to see more impact from a player of his talent.

Look at Lebron, the Cavs jumped from 17 wins before his arrival to 35 wins in his rookie year. Last year, the Spurs won 22 games & are on pace to win 15 this year.

Knicks reminds me of 2019-2020 Sixers, but Knicks are definitely better because its impossible to win with Ben playing a big role in a basketball team.

Sam Merrill blowing up in Cleveland is a big win for our draft thread guys here. Negrodamus I think in particular was calling him a Luka-proto lol.

He had the numbers and size, albeit against lesser comp. The problem with guys like him is the average athleticism turns them into a massive wildcard. Also you need the team to buy into him being an on ball type of guy, which requires a certain amount of hype or ample opportunity when the stars are injured (or the team just sucks).

That said, the cure all to these issues is being a textbook elite shooter, which he was.

Kupchak stepping down in Charlotte, Elton on the list to replace him.

That would be a great opportunity for Elton. And the Sixers need some fresh perspective.
