Thad was encouraged to explore the free agent market so that is what he is doing. If he signs an offer sheet, we most likely match. This is all part of the process.

possibility of a sign & trade Thad for Nene?

that's the kind of bold move I like the front office to make for a change

I'm fine with it as long as Nene changes his name back.

Unlike Stefanski and KIng that overpaid players. Dalembert and Kenny Thomas by King Iggy for Stefanski. At least Thorn isn't an idiot.

See Outlaw, Travis.

Let's just hope he doesn't match an offer upwards of 6 or 7 per year

8 mil a year for a bench player. My Lord, have mercy.

Possibly. Hope it would be a flat rate, though. Those escalating contracts make it worse.

I've never understood why teams don't try to front load contracts to a certain extent.

For instance if you are going to hand a guy a 5 year $40 million contract and you know you are a few million under the luxury tax, why not make the contract $10 million, $8 million, $8 million, $7 million, $7 million. I guess the argument is the player may dog it towards the end of the contract or might become a distraction because they aren't getting paid what they think they are worth. In business, getting as much money up front is always desirable. In the NFL, the contracts get a huge signing bonus and then get a "normal" salary over the life of the contract. It seems like you could make yourself cap /luxury tax friendly if you could do that.

How is that possible? Unless they trade Kaman. Even still, 8 mil? Yikes.

Thad is not worth 8m if Jordan gets that. A bench player is not worth that kind of money. Jordan will be their starting center this year when Kaman is traded.

8 million is nothing. Geez.

It's not like let Thad walk would do us any good.

We are still **** cap wise.

So what the **** is the point?

Bring back the lockout...I didn't miss this **** at all.

Teams are shopping like drunken sailors. I am shocked that we haven't been overwhelmed for Iguodala.

Some of these rumors are insane.

It's not the 8 million that's the problem. It's the 4-5 years attached to it to a guy that's best as a bench player that sucks about this.

Whether you like it or not, Knux, some of us Sixers fans do not understand the constant giving away contracts to marginal players when they should be (or should have been) traded for better pieces. Players and/or draft picks. Doesn't matter. And with the constant strive for the 7-8 seed each year, these contracts aren't going to players picked between 1-5. They are going to players picked in the 15-20 areas. I see a continuous ride going on here for a few years.

True, but this team needs vision beyond 12. Let's take adv of these foolish buyers.

This silence is odd. Is the entire league revolving around Paul?

SF, not even 1 Iggy offer?

My insider sense is telling me Iggy won't be traded. ET is excited to play with him. He could be the key for us to sign a big time FA next season. And now with the addition of the amnesty where we can easily use it on EB42 next season and instantly have 20+ M worth of cap space.

No, we aren't going to trade Iggy to Kmart or Monta.
No, we aren't going to use MLE for Tayshaun.
No, we aren't going to use amnesty for Nocioni.

Our primary goal for now, aside to resign Thad, is to find a starting C by Lou/Mareese or trade both or sign one via MLE.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Being a Iguodala fan, I am definitely biased and don't want him to get traded. Plus I still have hopes for seeing Jrue/Evan/Dre playing together, since last season Dre was playing hurt the entire time and Evan was still going through his rookie season.

Having said that, I am tired of us not making any moves at all. Thad (via sign-&-trade), Lou or Speights are potentially trade pieces we can use to explore options around the league. Maybe they are doing that and nothing is showing up in the media, but I hope we don't end up just signing Kwame Brown.
